      Yes it is done for raising keywords high in a good position but, this gives you backlinks which is not temporary.

    Mainly to get indexed in the search engines quickly. You may get a few backlinks, but from social bookmarking alone I havnt found too much benefit in terms of rankings.

    Yes, correct SB links are not permanent but easily you can rank well easily in the search engine at the same time ranking position is not stable only doing by bookmarking for that you have to do get quality and niche referral links.
