hey guys

I've link building for quite a few months now, probably around 6, i've followed 3 backlink packets from paul and angela (so added a total of 240 links from that) and i bought a similar packet that was in a wso for 600 pr 5-9 links, so basically i've built atleast 1000 links with my keyword in aswell as article submission and things like that, but for some reason i'm not ranking for my keyword, i mean not trying to complain that i'm not no.1 for it, im not ranking at all! i've been checking using the rankchecker software at seobook and also i've looked manually but couldn't see me anywhere, i mean i wouldn't even mind if i was at the bottom of page 20, atleast that way i could monitor my progress. what am i doing wrong?

my site is in my sig and keyword is 'funny t-shirts', if someone could help me figure this one out i'd really appreciate it

thanks

  • One of the problem with these links are they aren't picked up by spiders frequently. Do a query in google and you probably will be SHOCKED type your URL exacly into google with the quotes included. "chaoswear.co.uk". I saw aproximatly 2-3 links that you created that were actually spidered by Google.

The issue is google cannot find these links easily, and if you leave it up to the search engine it can take a million years for them all to show up.

What you need to do is create either an online bookmark page or link page that links directly to all the links you created in the Angela and Paul's package. It's probably going to take some time, since now you have to physically go searching around for them, but it's the only way to get them showing up and your PR jumping up like you thought. Remember: you'll also want to manually submit the bookmark or direct link page to google ASAP, so it will be spidered.

Your problem is a huge over expectation in what you can achieve with a few backlinks!

Even a search for the specific term "funny t-shirts" brings up 7,130,000 results!

You should be looking a keyterms with around 10-50,000 specific results as a MAXIMUM initially.

    Hi ruch1v,

I took a Market Samurai picture of the 10 top results for you.

    http://jeffhollyhand.com/funnytshirts.png

BLP = Back Links To the Page
BLD = Back Links To the Domain

That is going to be a hard one.
You will probably want to go after a longer tail term, to start with.

Check your back links in Yahoo Site Explorer - Free

Also check the on page in your Title Tag, Description Tag, and H1 Tag.

    Good Luck

One of your biggest problems is the title, you should change it to what you are using in your anchor text funny t-shirts, drop all the meta keywords and use only a couple or even just one

put some text at the top of the page and use a H1 tag for your main keyphrase then add some text under it. Write to sell to your customers and not for the search engines.

You don't have to bold or change colors in the text and use a white background so it's easier to read. That's a start

    Good advice already.

Also, create a XML sitemap and submit it to Google. Works often enough...

hey guys, thank you all for your help, one thing to remember is that I am targetting google.co.uk not google.com, so the competition is alot less, infact on google.co.uk when you type 'allintitle: funny t-shirts' there are 207,000 results, whereas if you changed the search to only show UK pages, there are only 12,500 results, i don't think I am expecting too much, whilst i have heard stories on here of people having overnight success with Angela's backlinks, that's not what my concern is, my concern is that my site isn't coming up at all, not even on the 200th page

thanks for the tip onlinemarketingsys, but whilst i will make a not to do so in the future, i don't really want to go back over my previous and redo them, how long will it take for those index?

thanks for the screenshot Jeff, however the results shown are US ranking sites, none of the ones that are in the UK top 10 are on there,

thanks everyone else for your help

A lot has to do with how you have been building your links and how fast. It sounds like there might be some problems in both those for you.
