I've tried a lot of things, but not sure where I go now. I'm looking to get my site ranked higher on Google. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. Thank you.

The site is for home automation:

If you have any more SEO suggestions, please let me know.. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Be more specific in your descriptions. For example Home Security. Is that Automated Home Security?

Nice job on the SE friendly links.

Nothing to do with SEO but I'm not a fan of the black background and white lettering. Something more colorful to apply a mood change in your prospects and readers.

Where are your social media buttons? Not all traffic has to come from SEs

I would have to agree with others that the site needs a design change. Very few people will tolerate having to read white text on a black background. Gray text on a black background is even worse.

Obviously, you need far more members making far more posts in order to have more indexable content. Yeah, I know, it like a chicken or the egg thing. How do you get more members making more posts if they cannot find you?

As others have said, links will help a lot. The other thing you should be doing is posting often in facebook and Google+ groups built around the general niche. The exposure will get you more visitors and in some cases, they might lead to links.

Well forum sites will really take some time to establish. But if you are just starting out don't just focus on ranking, focus on getting people on your forum. Re analyze the keywords used on your site, it is also the key to rank on SERP.

Since many homeowners are on facebook, I would start a facebook page and do facebook ads. Keep on posting interesting and useful home automation content but link the post to the appropriate thread in your forum for the complete answers.
Create engaging videos about home automation too and add a call-to-action to sign up on your forum.

You need to be putting out content that is useful to your demographic audience.secondly ranking high on google isn't going to help much if you aren't putting out relevant info. Thirdly ,use google keyword tool before you post so that you can see search volume and competition for the keywords that you want to use.

Thats not a website instead its a forum usually forums are seen as authority in SERPs maybe you should hire a few writers or hire a VAs and ask them to keep on posting stuffs around your keyword thats will help you in building trust and factors that will in turn help you in gaining higher spots.

Design is okay in my opinion no need to do anything in that.
Also have you done any prior keyword research for your forum?

I specialize in ranking forums highly with automation. My in home computer tutor and virus removal website (forum style) are on page two or three on Google for my keyword phrases. First page of Google if I use long tail and I'm in the first position in Bing.

I am the only one who posts to my forum, but when you use the mods and online services correctly, you can get a high ranking with a forum by yourself.

To build awareness on my forum, I would do several high quality guest posts (free or paid) on top technology, home improvement, electronics, real estate blogs and add my forum as link.

I agree with dave_hermansen, you should change your website design. Best way to get top rank you should discover is what your competitors are doing like from which site they get quality incoming links, what type of keywords and title they targeted? You can participate in different discussion sites as well as forum sites, I know forum sites are a longer process to get quality backlinks but when you get a proper user base on it, it offers quality backlinks to your sites. You can use Social Media which helps to get relevant traffic on your website.

Looks fine. won't do anything for SEO but better to read.

Well, I was going to buy some HQ back links soon, but not sure it's worth it for a forum yet. I think I need to focus on content.

to be honesty I have never seen anyone create enough content on a forum by themselves to get a forum active. Some people even hire posters because enough people being active is what it takes. You need more eyeballs (Which usually means more traffic) and you need a plan of monetization unless this is just a hobby, i would think that would be either selling automation products or being an affiliate for one

  • If you have a forum site going on, then I believe that you would have the chance to get it rank higher if you have shareable content. I think aside from people searching for your forum, you also have to make yourself known in social media.

You need to make sure that the keywords you are using in your site as well as on the title of your pages are being searched by the people you are targeting. You could also make use of Google tools to determine these.

What are your buyer persona, have you established them? Maybe, since you are in the home security niche, you also should try joining homeowner forums for the location you are targeting to get to know their needs and for further assessment.

Asking an expert on the field of home security or an investigator to comment regarding the perils of not having a home security system could be a useful article you could submit on several sites for guest blogging and linking back to your site, where they could further discuss on the topic. I think the main thing is to raise awareness on your services and how it adds value to the people you are offering it to.

  • What are you selling on this forum? Is it just a hobby? If you are monetizing it with security system sale then that should already give you a way to move forward. Introduction of the systems you are selling and checking out competition.
