Dead and ignored niches by the search engines

I was wondering what if there are any dead or unprofitable niches??

And this is regardless of the sub niche. Are the things like gambling, weight loss, forex ignored and or frowned upon especially by Google but other search engines as a whole?

I've heard that if you find the right keyword, you can still break into the niche even if it is the weight loss or dog training niche. But are the niches like gambling, weight loss, forex and even pharmacy type sites/niches a no no to consider because Google doesn't like it?? And even in the case of gambling specifically fantasy sports aren't even something to even consider as a niche, even if you think you can break into it with the right keyword?

Thoughts??

It's literally impossible to over saturate a niche. Not even remotely possible.

Don't get hung up on Google or any other SERP. There's tons of traffic on the web for every single niche whether it's longtail keywords or direct traffic from other sources.

In the context of websites, yuk is right.

In the context of search engines, I assume you mean google as all the big ones besides them are probably giving highly censored and skewed results anyway. (You think baidu gives organic results?!?!)

So the question is not saturated, dead, or ignored, but ripe for scamspam.

Forex, weight loss, make money online, payday loans, pharmacy, etc. are probably ones that will not make much from google, unless you yourself are an established business of such, or highly skew your pages to do an end around.

Google has stopped taking advertising for some of those, which is a tip off as to what they might be doing to SERPS, although they won't mention it.

But google is no fool. They won't let a payday loan scam site buy an ad, but they'll put them #1 organically? That would make no sense and defeat the ad ban.

This would also be a case where a real payday loan company would be able to get #1. But you or me for payday loans? Hardly.

Of course one would also need to consider current marketing value. Would we need another site on how to hail a taxi cab? Where to get your disposable camera film developed?

Compact point and shoot cameras were being sold at a rate of 120 million a year in 2010...now they sell 13 million. Would I create a site on that?

Of course if the amount of good websites also declines with a niche...perhaps there is an opportunity. But I will fight the urge to do a site on how to use rss or install a landline.

I dont think there are any dead niches. Yes you can find lots of unprofitable niches. And who said Google doesnt like weight loss niche? There are 100s of affiliate sites ranking for them.

There are thousands of unprofitable niches. Dead niches? I'm not sure what that even means unless you are talking about things like an iPhone3 or the Windows ME operating system. In that case, unprofitable and dead are the same thing.

There are no niches that are so saturated or "bad" that Google will not rank a new site. If there are sites already ranking for a term, Google must not have a problem with the niche. Being able to compete in those niches is another story entirely!

I guess I should have been a little more specific. Although to be fair in my head in made way more sense and sounded much better.

I think what I meant was, more so of niches NOT to go after or even attempt because the SEs, specifically Google frown upon it. I'm pretty sure that niches like pharmacy sites, gambling/betting and forex to name a few that come to mind are a no no in Googles eyes??

But at the same time how could it be when I still see there are products and affiliate items, programs etc to promote.

If any of those niches was a "no-no" to Google, the search results would be empty with some sort of official Google Morality Police statement about how listing results for such things is beneath them. No such niche exists to my knowledge.

A friend of a friend was in the same niche as a big dog. This friend sold millions of copies of a book in the niche of this big dog.

Later he met the founder of the bigger company.

He asked the guy if he heard about his book that sold millions of copies in his niche. The guy said "what book"
