SEO (search engine optimisation)

3 TYPES OF WEB VISITOR
First Type: The one who search for the company, the product.
Second Type: The one who participe. He interacts with other visitor (comment on blog).
Third Type: The one who “surf” on the web. We need to remind these people we’re here.

PAGE RELEVANCE
Evaluated with the good words on the page, at the right spot, compared with the rest of the page. She’s also influenced by the visitor rebound rate. (A rebound rate is when the visitor doesn’t stay on your website, and go back to Google. You don’t want a high rebound rate).

PAGE NOTORIETY
If your website’s pages aren’t considered relevant, she’ll never be referenced. It means that you need pages who’ll be shared and read with a low rebound rate. The more it is, the more your page will get notoriety and appear on top search result. In other words, you need to get your website linked. Careful, you can’t just link your website everywhere because Google analyse where links come from and if it’s not relevant, you’ll lose points.

COMPETITION
We all want our website to be first search result. To be first, we need to put some hard work. And it’s not because your first today, that you’ll be first tomorrow. You need to update your website, make people talk about it, put new content. You need to keep your website alive.

KEYWORDS
What’s important to think about when you’re doing a website is: “What are people looking when they want to find me?” People write an average of 4 words per search on Google. Remember that the more wider the terms searched are to find you, the more difficult it is to competition with others. Let’s take an example. If you sell “Blue pencil for ninja”, and by chance, you’re top search result on “Blue pencil”, you’ll not stay there for a long time. It’s important to focus on “Blue pencil for ninja”.

How to find keywords:
- Create a list of everything you offer, sell, what you are. Find synonym.
- Find popular terme. Avoid professional terme.
- Use ADWORDS to find popular research. For a beginner, using a 1k to 10k monthly searches is recommended.
- Use SemRush, this website helps to find the keywords used by a given website.

CONTENT UNIQUENESS
Do not repeat information. You need unique content for each page. You can briefly talk about something on a page and go deeper on another page, but don’t abuse of repeated information.

TL;DR (TOO LONG DIDN’T READ)

To get a better SEO:
- Get a nice content
- Get a low rebound rate
- Provide good keywords
- Give you visitor what he’s there for

DISCLAIMER
I’m not a SEO expect, these are just notes I wanted to share with you that I took from a video tutorial from openclassroom.com about SEO. Sorry for my english, I’m french and it’s a free traduction of my own.

Well, we don't know that. We surmise it's still being used by Google. We know that it's not available to the public.
