Hi, dear all,

I am pondering how to choosing proper anchor text. I am new to SEO, and now struggling with choosing correct anchor text in links building, because my superior and my colleagues have different theories.

For example, I work for an e-commerce company called BIG, and the website is "BIG. com"
Then pet supplies are best-seller and I am asked to build relevant links .
So, here are a few options (suggested by my colleagues and superior) for me to choose anchor text:
(I am going to promo the site www. BIG. com/ pet-supplies / , for instance)

which anchor text for the site is better:
BIG, pet supplies, BIG pet supplies, cheap pet supplies...(maybe you guys could fill the list with better words)

Again, I am new to SEO, so I don't know if I make my question clear enough or give enough information about my question...but I really need help.

Thanks in advance.
Regards

    Hello Marrcena

    I can understand
the best thing you can do is go to google keyword planner and add your specified keyword to ensure your selected keyword has maximum searches
and from there you will get the additional keywords to use and then apply anchor text to them

And how do you think about using brand name as anchors that landing to a specified keyword page??

      Thanks again

Targeting exact anchor text is less effective but focusing on the content in which describes most of your target would be the best method.

      Thanks for your answer, KylieSweet.

So choosing keyword for anchors is not as complicated as I thought, and the high-quality and more original content in which anchors are located should be the focus.
      Am I getting you right?

It depends how much effort you are going to put on SEO as keywords could be either less competitive or high competitive. First choose 4-5 keywords using Google Keyword planner considering it's competitiveness + monthly searches. It's better to be a mixture of both short keywords and long tail keywords.

    All the best!

Your superior and colleagues? I always choke when I hear that...

You mean they hire someone who does not know what's going on?

Keyword planner has nothing to do with anchor text. I have no idea where people get that idea.

They are probably working for the same type of people....

Where does the link go to?

A real ecommerce site would have real people working for them who know what they are doing.

And a business plan that involved hiring and using such experts, if needed.

That's not even human. Seriously. I could not even get through half of it before laughing, then gagging.

Maybe they just want to see what will happen when hiring and training a total green hand in this field...
