Optimising your Facebook page.

As you'll probably be aware, I was a bit late to come to the party with optimising my website when I started a business in the past few months and I'm now spending time catching up!
I've been doing a lot of research around how, why and when to put things into place on my website but I've only just realised that it's just as important to optimise your business page on Facebook too! I've definitely got all areas of that covered now, I thought it was just a case of adding a hashtag to your posts, how wrong I was!!

Thought I'd share some key ways you can make your Facebook page Google friendly too as it's definitely not all common sense!! In addition to that, having a quality, optimised Facebook page adds lots of value to your brand so it's definitely worthwhile doing.

Choose a good title.
My business page is the name of my business but it doesn't have to be. You can choose anything you want but make it catchy, relevant, and if you can stuff a keyword in there authentically then all the better! If you make it too generic you run the risk of Google penalising you so it's best to keep it consistent with your messaging.

Fill in the description boxes.
There's lots of space on a Facebook page to describe your business, what you do, about us, short and long descriptions - make sure you take advantage of all the space that Facebook give you and don't forget your keywords. It's a great place to put them discreetly and still get results.

Fill in contact details.
It's so important that you put in the phone number and address of your business. It's another thing that people gloss over I guess because Facebook is an online platform and they think it's not necessary - wrong!! Putting your address helps your business show up in local results PLUS Google gives higher priority to sites who have their address listed. Kind of makes sense really as it shows that you're committed.

Use the preview box.
The first few words of the description of your post will be used as a preview when the status is shared so it's a good idea to make sure this section has as much information as possible to give your audience an idea of what your status is about.

They are just a few things that I've picked up along the way which I thought might help - now you know you'll notice that when you do your own Google searches, more often than not it'll be someone's Facebook page that shows up first rather than their website - make it count!!
Cheers Ads.
