Is SEO your main source of web traffic?

Not much of an explanation required really. Im just asking you guys as my website is still quite new and still really has to hit its stride and reach its potential with regards to how much web traffic it is likely to receive in future. So the statistics about how my website generally receives its traffic is likely to change as time goes on.
Currently my website receives the bulk of its traffic through facebook as a result of my shameless and twice daily posts from my personal page and from the pages of my friends who are publicizing my business as a favor. Similarly think my web page will take time to rise up the google rankings as it is quite new, is not yet really recognized as a source of authority on the subject.
So I feel that my current date regarding my website traffic is currently quite skewed and un realistic.
Thats why I wanted to ask you guys, if good SEO is a more important source of web traffic than say, social media marketing or any other type of internet marketing going for that matter.
Im really just trying to get a decent idea as to the direction that my website is going to go in future with regards to how it gets its traffic. As always, I appreciate your help.

    I really don't understand what actually are you trying to ask here. And as far as good traffic source is considered it depends what kind of website you have.

    Like if you have a Viral niche you cant rely over SEO and again if you have a microniche website with high CPC then you should not rely over Social traffic as that will lower down the CPC

    So its like our choice changes from niche to niche and you should focus on the best source that is cheaper for you and brings good ROI

    It's hard to judge that. It depends on many factors such as the method are you chose to drive traffic and the way you do it. SEO and social media are both extremely good. The most important thing is you, how and what you do it drive traffic to your website?
    To sum up, how much traffic visit your website depends on you.

    It isn't a one or the other thing. You should be using a variety of methods to generate traffic. While you build site authority, and actually to help you build site authority, what you are doing via facebook is geat. To work towards getting on page one of google you should also be regularly writing quality content that has low competition key words in the title,

    If you have a budget for advertising this will boost traffic while your seo and free traffic sources are getting established.

    That's because your SEO is not working yet. Social media is important too. Why not use both? SEO is a tricky one though. You can get traffic from social media from first day itself but you have to do a lot of effort in SEO and wait till your keywords ranks in Google to get the traffic via SEO

    When building a site and working on your marketing strategy, it's good to create rooms for various form of traffic source.

    SEO is one of the best way to get free and targeted traffic over the long run. These two "free traffic and targeted traffic" kills it's all.

    Different folks use different methods.
    It's your job as the CEO to find what works best for your market and business model.

    I don't know what your site is all about but having an opt in will help because it takes between 3 to 7 contacts to close a sale unless when you are selling products from sites that are already an established brand.

    I do not recommend you use SEO as a primary source of traffic. Social media sites like YouTube are the best place to start as they get you traffic fast if done correctly.

    Also YouTube videos rank fast in Google. The traffic you get from YouTube videos help your site to rank higher when it pertains to bounce rate.

    My personal experience proves that there are many factors influencing on SEO like blog commenting, forum posting, writing seo articles; moreover, hosting uptime plays an important part, for instance, I am with hostwinds and my site is always up. Hope it will help you to some extend.

    I think everyone's source of traffic is by SEO unless someone has a domain name that gets direct typings but I think they also would need SEO for their site.

    Hey,

    SEO should be only one of your traffic channels. You should be getting yourself in front of your target audiences where-ever they hang-out. Facebook of course is great, but maybe there are forums where you audience hangs-out, or popular blogs within your niche where you can chime in on conversations - all the time you want to be adding value to the conversations. Showing your authority.

    You should also consider how your audience likes to digest content and make sure you have content to meet this. This could be a Youtube channel, Podcasts, Create an info app for the app-store.

    At the end of the day its a bad idea to rely too much on search engine traffic - you need multiple streams of traffic of multiple channels. This gives you more security and a better foundation for sustainability and growth.
