Although Google has repeatedly mentioned that manipulative and low quality backlinks will hurt ranking, building relevant and quality backlinks still remain the single most effective way to rank high.

What's your thought on this?

    Backlinko did a study recently by analyzing 1 million Google search results, and Quality Backlinks still remain as the most important factor by far.

    I believe the key is in the phrase "manipulative and low quality back links will hurt ranking". If your backlinks appear genuine then Google will most likely rank your site accordingly.

    If your back links appear false or manipulative, e.g. a rush of 5000 low quality backlinks from a Fiverr offer, then Google will at best not increase your ranking and may reduce your ranking on the supposition that you are also doing other things that are manipulative.

    Yes, agree!

    But the different is what quality backlink is. Quality backlinks are not only that, the results depend on the way that each one defines the word "quality backlink"

    SEO experts always make other people link to them instead of doing it themselves.

      Yes i agree to that. But if we are having very little traffic and are not ranked well, the possibility of others reading our content is very low and therefore the possibility of people linking to us will be very low as well.

      When we are just starting off or when we still have low traffic and not ranking well, we have to be pro-active in getting these quality backlinks so that we can rank high.

    Building backlinks is still a very important tool in SEO, the enhancements made by Google enables it to track low quality back links which are usually bought. Saying that it will hurt your ranking is lacking, it should be mentioned that it is because Google will penalize you for playing their system.

    Needless to say, if you are on a campaign then focus on getting high quality backlinks or nothing at all.

    My opinion and suggestion is yes. Backlinks still keeps an important role now a days for ranking keywords effectively. But you have to be more careful than before. You can't build random backlinks. This will not help you anymore. So try to find out legitimate, niche relevant high pr backlinks. Thank you!

      One good way of building legit backlinks is to guest post, create quality content and post them on relevant websites.
