Is it too late to revive a website?

In January of this year I started a blog because my wife and I were just about to set off on 6 months of travel with our little girl. I posted once a week during our travels, and got some pretty good traction. However, in mid-June we stopped traveling, I focused on work, and I have not posted on the blog since.

I have had people reach out to me and ask if I would keep it going, but it is just so time consuming.

If I start back up again, would I basically be starting from scratch in terms of SEO?

It is never too late to revive your website. You can still make use of your old posts. Update their content and tags if needed. You can also try to re-engage followers with an update to old posts and new posts will definitely give your site a boost. Make sure that the content that you have are still as engaging and useful as before. If you have constant site visitors or readers, let them know that you are back! Have them share your content and converse with them.

No matter what. No updated regularly does not mean your website lower ranking on search engines. It doesn't adversely affect SEO.

Just feel free and enjoy with your family.

Yes, I agree. Your SEO will still be intact and will continue. It really is time-consuming since time is one of your investments here. In my perspective, it is either you spend more time making your website of value or spend money to have someone else do it for you.
