Black Hat SEO, Will it Still Work in 2017?

Google is getting smarter everyday. White hat SEO takes a long time to do, but is generally safe from updates and penalties.

Black hat SEO can be a lot quicker cheaper, but it is a lot riskier. Do you think theres still a future in black hat SEO? Or do you think its inevitable that only white hat will survive?

    Hi there Jeff !!

    Interesting question.
This is just what popped into my thoughts as I red your question. So I can not award any guaranty to it.

I think that as Google gets smarter, so to does some of the real "black hatters". I mean they also follow what Google roles out. If you think about hackers and virus creators:
No matter what protection gets developed, they still find a way to brake through it. I am often stunned and amazed at what individual persons can accomplish. Remember that Google is essentially a robot. The Human mind is always more creative than a robot.

I know this is not a traditional answer.

Temporarily, thereby making it a total waste of time an effort.

If you are going to do something, do it the proper way the first time.

You need to do whatever it takes to protect yourself so Google doesn't think you are doing anything against aToS.

Recommend reading over the ToS and then forming a black hat strategy based on that.

However, I recommend for the long run if you want longer more exponential success - stick to white hat methods.

Every blackhat method is eventually doomed to fail, its much better to focus on using legitimate methods in the long run.

If your backlinks are from the genuine blogs which are having real authority and good metrics then it will never affect to the money site, So you have to focus on the original methods while building your website.

  • If you have a genuine business, I wouldn't go blackhat. Cause in a year, or two, three, your website can just disapear from the listing.
But if this is just a website strictly created for making money off the seo traffic - go black hat all the way. Why bother if in a year or two your website goes down if in this year or two you will have 5x more traffic than working white hat.

and the other thing when it comes to google updates... going fully whitehat doesn't mean you will never receive a penalty...

It is strongly advised NOT to use Black Hat SEO techniques ever. You may get a benefit on the short term, but sooner or later
the search engines will notice what you are up to.
Gray hat SEO may become Black hat SEO in the future. Black Hat SEO is renamed by me as Negative SEO.
You need not apply negative seo on your site. Better apply on your competitor site.

My market place is a nightmare for doing seo. A typical search terms has four adverts, Google shopping and Google images on page one.

I stopped trying to rank my site and focused on ppc and am.

I did however buy 6 SAPE links ( from fiverr) at shot then at a parasite and got onto page 1 in 72 hours.

That listing has been page 1for 3 months now and is responsible for a nice steady stream of income.

Hi there Dave. Could you be so kind as to explain what a SAPE link is? It sounds powerful and peaked my interest.

        It's a Russian link network.

I wouldn't use these links on a money site as they can be quite spammy. Perhaps to boost links coming from one of your tiers.

On a parasite they appear to be working well. I use exact match on my sales links and diversify anchor text with other links.

No, black cat SEO won't work in 2017 since it's not a leap year.

    Try back in 2020.

White hat and Black hat SEO will still affect your practice on how well you are in optimization. In 2017 unethical method will surely ignored while manually optimized will be benefited in the long run.
