Is this regarded as duplicate content?

Hi all

I have a website using wordpress. It's a sound effects library and each sound exists in two categories, the top level and a sub category plus a dedicated page just for the particular sound. All three have separate URLs, so effectively, one sound will exist in thaw URLS..

For example, the following sword sound effect will exist in these three places.

http://www.zapsplat.com/music/sword-...-sheath-fast-1
http://www.zapsplat.com/sound-effect...r-and-weapons/
http://www.zapsplat.com/sound-effect-category/swords/

Is this bad for SEO? Should I block the top level category (/war-and-weapons) so it only appears in two places?

Thanks

It's bad SEO because it's a poorly structured site.

Don't use multiple categories per content page.

This is true. There should be a single URL that is linked to from the three categories. Something like zapsplat.com/sword-draw-sheath-1.

Of course, it is kind of silly worrying about "duplicate content" on pages that have no text on them, other than download links.

Thanks everyone... yes the structure was something someone else came up with too. I'll have to look into the structure.

As other warriors have stated, you don't need to worry about duplicate content. Your main problem is that your structured correctly.
The structure of your website is really important nowadays, from the SEO point of view. also, as a visitor, you wouldn't like a poorly structured website.
