There's no doubt that SEO is overwhelming. If you dont know what you're doing then not only is it a long-winded process that feels like you're walking in mud half the time, a common question is how does anyone have the time to give it the due care and attention it needs!

If you're like me, you would have started with a high level of online marketing and technical knowledge and as a quick learner who's fully prepared to take advantage of all the online resources out there, thought that learning it would have come easy. Until you get stuck into title tags, alt attributes and on and off-site optimisation and then it turns into a complete minefield!

Well I've got a tip for those that don't have the time or capacity to learn SEO fully but who need their ranking to improve quick smart.

Produce quality content.

Unless your website is at least a year old its really difficult to rank for the searches that you choose as one of the things in your favour is the age of your site. This means that all the technical stuff that you're focussing on isn't necessarily going to come into play for 12 months anyway. As the time is passing anyway, by the time that your site is drawn to the attention of the Google Gods you'll have a page that's filled with SEO rich content which will see you at the top of the searches every single time. At that point focus on everything else you need to (or hopefully by then you're in a position to pay someone to do it for you!)

Making a conscious effort to produce regular, genuine andengaging content will have the following benefits for your site:
  • Produce high quality links pointing back to your site
  • Large keyword density throughout your copy
  • Youll give your readers reasons to keep coming back to your site
  • Youll build up your audience on social media genuinely and authentically
  • Youll establish yourself as an authority in your niche
  • Youll learn what your audience like and dont like (if no one reacts to your content, change your style)
Yes, theres no doubt that the technical elements of SEO areimportant and shouldnt be ignored. But while you dont have the time and/orbudget to focus on the rest- make sure that you constantly produce qualitycontent.
