Sudden increases of YT views

Hello,

Is there a way to find out the reason for a sudden increase of views for a YT video? For example, take 2 videos in the same niche: one will have 120 views in several months, while the other might have 8,000+ in the same amount of time - even if they start out the same way (i.e. both having low viewership at the start).

What could be the reason for such a jump (I know that without information on the specific case, one could not say for sure - but - for the sake of speculation, what could it be)? Is there a way to track this down?

TIA

The video with the most views may have moved up to the top in YouTube's search results and could be showing up at the top of Google's search results.

Youtube has an analytics in place which you could use and make use of. In most cases videos get loads of views when they appear in suggested tabs so you should look what changes have you made.

Without looking more into the videos I can say that it can be due to the tags of the videos you should check that.

Thanks for the response - I have been looking into using other tools: ahrefs, SEO Rush, etc.
      • Will the analytics provide information such as whether or not it was accessed from within or outside of YouTube?
      • Will it (the analytics) mention whether or not it (the video) showed up on a Search Engine Result Page (i.e. a Google Search)?
If the answer to either question is "no"; then, is there a program (similar to Ahrefs and SEM Rush) that can be used for YouTube videos?

      TIA

There are a lot of possibilities for this reason, but it would all boil down to an optimized content. First to consider is if you have appropriately named your video that corresponds to your content? That is a big deal, it has to match so it would be easier for Youtube to put your video in the proper category and show it to apropriate people.

Well someone might of bumped the views with fake views or social media or spike of rankings, etc.

  • Maybe the video title is much more appealing than the other one. Sometimes it just boils down to that specific reason, people are interested in what would capture their attention, and an appealing title that would somehow fit their need would surely be viewed more rather than boring straightforward ones.

A great description with appropriate tags would surely go a long way, if I am a user and the keywords I am using to describe a content you provide is not included in your description then that won't go to me. It should fit if I am looking specifically for Pitbulls in tutus, your video must contain the tags Pitbulls and tutus.

Even if you have the same niche, but if another video was shared appropriately in all platforms reaching more audience than the first one, then surely that could be one of the reasons why it is getting more views than the other one. Social Media Marketing is important even on Youtube videos, now if you tell me that both have the same SMM technique, then I am not sure what to say.
