A website in my niche has 180 backlinks , ranks number one for my keyword, seems to be just an old general blog post. I feel I can get more then 180 backlinks on my own. How hard would it be to outrank such a site?

Also.. Do you recommend using the SEO/backlinking services on the for hire section for quality backlinks?
#question #quick #seo or ranking

The number of links is not really a ranking factor. Not all links are equal. What matters much more is the quantity of high quality links.

That makes sense and I remember reading that somewhere.

Definitely not from here or places like Fiverr. They are basically all crap.

Your main focus should be quality. It may be possible to outrank the site if the search engine can recognize that your links are of more quality than that of the website.
So aim to have a large quantity of QUALITY links for starters.

Well, I wouldn't say it is impossible neither would i say it is "hard". However, in simple terms, your ability to outrank a site such as this would be highly dependent on the QUALITY you offer. Alongside, the amount of this you produce.

    How do you do this?

    1. Know your niche WELL
    2. Become your reader's/viewer's mind
    3. Offer what they desire(without question)

Many of you may know me as an entrepreneur, but my background is actually SEO. Although I follow the rules these days, I am known to have dabbled in the dark arts of SEO. But don't worry, this post isn't on SEO ethics or whether you should be a black- or white-hat SEO.

From my experience in both the black- and white-hat world of SEO, I have learned what you should avoid if you don't want your rankings to tank.

I have 250+ link for my website but I am ranking on page 3rd, actually large number of links is not really a ranking factor. Relevant links and user-friendly content is more effective.

Most of the comments here are about backlinks, but I'd say start with your website content before worrying about backlinks. Do you give someone who is searching for your keyword a more relevant answer than your competitor? If so, then Google's concept is that you should rank higher, everything else being equal. Once you have good, original and highly relevant (to your keyword) content , and your site is set up to Google's taste (don't forget a good mobile experience), then you can start building relevant backlinks, and as everyone else here has said: quality beats quantity.

You have to link with quality and relevant websites in order to improve your domain authority and gain better rankings.
Websites with good content and quality backlinks will dominate the SERPs.
if you wanted to outrank a old website technically all you need is quality dofollows backlinks from High Domian authority
    and with more referring domains.
