Where in earth in Google Analytics can I find what hits I am getting in my website from search terms?

I honestly can't find it. It looks like Google analytics does everything and everything you could possibly conceive of, except one THE ONE thing I actually want to ti do!

I guess they're not there. So Google analytics does everything you could possibly conceive of, excerpt the one thing I actually need. Where is my traffic coming from?

Google has not shown search terms for a couple of years now - ever since they went HTTPS. You can still find them in Bing Webmaster Tools or you can see them in AdWords if you run any sort of ad campaign,

Best thing you can do in Analytics is look at the landing pages and the referrals.

That will give you an idea which landing pages are getting hit the most and where the traffic is coming from.

Usually you will see good traffic from LinkedIn Groups, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest if you are active on those platforms.
