Hi, I was just doing a keyword research for "Sales Video" and according to the keyword planner there are only about 140 monthly searches for this term in the US. It seems so low to me, is this possible? I am wondering if I am doing anything wrong..

Thanks!

If you want to do good keyword research then use Jaaxy. It gives you the right numbers.

Sales Video is just to hard to rank for. Use long tail keywords.

    Hi, thanks for your response!

Yes sure, I agree that it would be easier to rank for long tail, this was actually just an example. The point is, is the google keyword planner data reliable? I mean this seems to me so far off, not like 20%, but more like 20,000%!?

    Thanks!

P.S. What data does Jaaxy use if not that from Google?

    Hello Fabyoga,
Good to see you around here again.

Google planner, as with most keyword tools are good indications of quality keywords rather than accurate data. It's best to use a few different tools to analyse potential keywords rather than just one and then compare the data you've gathered.

It's also good to filter your finds, by looking at Google's 'Searches related' lists and actual data from Google trends to gauge popularity and interest.

That does sound like very skewed data though, I must admit -- out of interest, was it listed as high or low competition?

Low competition refers to the advertisers bidding on the keyword and not the difficulty of ranking the keyword.

That means there are a low amount of advertisers who select that keyword to be within their AdWords budget. So even if it has a high CPC, it doesn't mean your going to get many clicks for it.

Are you sure you were looking at national results and not local?

Google planner, as with most keyword tools are good signs of quality keywords rather than precise information. It's best to use a few different resources to analyze potential keywords rather than just one and then compare the information you've collected.

Keyword planner always didn't show accurate results and its only 10% of their data for your free membership. Find other ways in which your target are gathered for you to analyze what's the best keyword to use in order to get them effectively.

You can cross check the keywords using other platforms like SEMRush or wordstrem etc.
Google keyword planner gives you the range and that is too difficult now to choose keywords based on search volume.

"Sales Video" is a broad term, and keyword research is not an easy task.
I suggest that you compile a list of keywords first that you want to pursue to your site.
Make short term keywords to long term/phrases or questions. It should be something that is well associated with your site.
