Hey guys,

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before, and thank you in advance for any help and advice you have to offer.

What are the best SEO wordpress themes? And where's the best place to find them?

Thanks again!

Kat

        Brian,

Do you find a difference between the Platinum SEO plugin and the All-In-One SEO plugin? I am using the All-In-One SEO plugin and was wondering if it was worth switching.

There is not as much difference between these but in platinum seo pack there is 301 redirect feature which is beneficial for you.

          Thanks!!

          Kayla,

I haven't used the all in one SEO plugin that you mention,
so really can't say which is best.

Maybe others here can advise (as snvservices has)?

          Brian

  • SEO is about what you do, not so much the Theme. People thinking they can just buy a theme with SEO advantages are wrong. Not to say that a really poorly coded theme wouldn't hurt you.

I have a site that has gone from FrontPage to XSitePro, to Joomla, to WordPress and it never left the first page of Google for the Primary Keyword Phrase.

SEO is much more about proper title tags, description tags, quality content and a whole lot of OFFSITE Influences.

But if you come across this elusive Theme that makes your pages skyrocket to the top... I'd sure like to see it too!

    Million and One times now...

I use the ones I developed (see my sig) or variations on them.

But, as Brian Cook mentioned, I highly recommend using Platinum SEO with my themes or other themes where you want to maximize the SEO potential of a self-hosted WordPress site.

Thesis is a well optimised theme. It costs, but if that's OK you may want to check it out.

It has built in features that enable you to drop some SEO plugins - and dropping plugins is always a good thing

    Thesis allows you to:

    - Set META title, description and keywords for your blog as well as for each post and page
    - noindex your various archive pages if that's what you prefer
    - Set noindex by post if you want

When you install Thesis it adds fields for these below the post write box on the Add New Post screen. The control panels also give you fields where you can set site wide SEO preferences.

Because of that you can do away with the All-in-one-SEO pack if you prefer to restrict the number of plugins you use.

There's a review of Thesis here:

Happy to answer any specific questions if you have them,

    Cheers,

    Martin.

SEO is content, not theme. If you are looking for good themes that make SEO easy(without any plugins), try Elegant Themes. With recent addition of ePanel, they are SEO friendly. Thesis is also a good option.

However, I suggest using a good plugin like HeadSpace 2 for SEO. It can auto generate meta information for you and also has loads of other features.
