    There isn't much value in them anymore to be honest.

    Best you can use them for is to get citations for local seo where it still helps quite a bit.

    Some citation sources give you links, never saw a huge ranking increase in regular search by doing them though.

    If those directories have good DA then it can pass link juice to your website. Which way you can get benefit. Backlink still major ranking factor for getting higher rank.

    Directory submissions are now old days practice and does not have any real value. However Some old and high PR directories like DMOZ still works, But getting approved by them is not an easy task.

    There is value in them to a point. After that it doesn't matter how many you submit it is just not going to have any impact. So overall they are pretty weak and really not a great way to get into it at all.

    Directory submission is now not that much effective technique, but don't totally ignore it as it can help
    you in getting some backlinks. DMOZ directory is still very effective as it is associated with several search
    engines like AOL, also the approval process for Dmoz is quite better than other directories.
    You should submit your website in those directories which are related to your Website's niche.

      Google update PR every single day and factor that into the ranking algorithm every day, just like they have done for years.
