Hi everyone!

I work for a branding, branding and web design agency based in Aberdeen, Scotland called LFI Creative.

I am implementing SEO into our website and we seem to be ranking very well on Google for 'branding aberdeen' and 'social media aberdeen' among others.
However, 'web design aberdeen' seems to never get higher than middle of page 2 of SERPs.

Is there anything I can do to ramp this up to page 1 - I have been using the same techniques for all keywords and would appreciate any helpful info!

Many thanks!

    Hello,

I think what you are seeing is that some keywords (like those which you are ranking well for) are just easier to rank for.

I imagine branding Aberdeen just doesn't have as much competition as your web design keyword.

I would focus on building out your pages, why are sites above you on page 1? Do they have more content, better designs, do they load quicker, are they easier to use... You need to focus on your on-page SEO before going further and looking at off page stuff.

I would also remove your employers name, you don't want this post to hurt you in the future... Another agency could easily see that you are doing SEO, investigate you and find that you have done blackhat stuff and report you.

it depends on the strategies you are using. Most likely that keyword is competitive. if you use pbns, increase the number. Increase everything you have tried. Also, why not focus on long-tailed keywords? You could be getting decent amount of clients from there too.

It does depend on what your are doing now, but it also depends on what your competition is doing. I would advise looking into your competitor backlink profiles for every company ranking in page 1.

Here is a nice little tool that I like to use for a quick peek at competitors: https://www.seoprofiler.com/

They have a free function for looking at the backlink profile of websites and they estimate the value of each link. While I wouldn't trust their metrics that much, it is good for a fast look.

Once you have an idea of your competition, you will know more about what you are up against.

Also, as you are looking through their link profiles, you might notice that some of their links are easy to get. Grab that low hanging fruit!

    Hope this helps!
