Contact Form in a lightbox popup, bad SEO idea?

Hi,

I need your advice please.

I'm building a website at the moment and the designer made the contact form as a floating button and when clicked it opens in a popup/lightbox, I personally love it but I'm thinking to put the form in a normal page and link it to the footer because:

1- I read before that Google doesn't like popups/lightboxes, so is it bad for SEO?
2- I don't know if I can include it in the sitemap?
3- As much as I want to provide good customer service; I don't the form to be abused by spammers and non-thinking customers who clicks before they check the help section.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you

Its probably more of an issue from a UX perspective.

I would ditch it and use traditional enquiry forms.

That's what I was thinking John, thank you

Also it is quite likely to have display issues on some devices, where as the traditional one will be naturally responsive, like the rest of the website.

A few rules of thumb -

    1. Dont try to be clever
    2. Dont make users think
    3. Users are lazy, make it easy for them

Put a contact form on the home page, sidebars across all inner pages and of course on your contact page.

    Here's an example...

Of course, be sure to track conversions so you know which pages are driving the enquiries. You can do that easily with Google Analytics.

    Good luck.
