Hello Everyone,

I want to know why Search Console is showing 4,096 pages index pages whereas in real there are 160 product pages on the e-commerce website.

Apart from this, Search Console also shows that error for 213 URLs which are not working and giving 404 error.

Guys please suggest what I need to in this case...and why it is showing more index pages than actual pages right now.

Look at the indexed page URLs.

That tells you where the pages are being generated.
    • Tag pages
    • Category pages
    • Ecommerce pages (multiple sizes/colors per product)
    • etc...

    • How do I check these pages because in search console it is just showing the number of 4,096 pages are index nothing else.

Any tools to check URLs of index pages by Google?

If I'm understanding you correctly, you just type in site:yourdomainname.com into Google.

        • When I search site:yourdomainname.com into Google, I only see results up to 400 links not more than that.

And, what I am talking above is the number of index pages showing which is more than 4000 index pages.

        • I just now check the Html improvement section in Search Console and found that there are duplicate pages in it.

Correct, Google will index all your actually URLs created in your website, some other pages such as author pages, archive pages,...

In case there are indeed over 4k of real URLs indexed - you should see them with the site:yourdomain.com query (but you might need to jump to the last results page and you`ll probably see a link saying that there are more results which Google decided not to display).

Next you should indeed revise the URLs to get the idea where they are being generated in the first place. In case the dynamic parameters do not affect the pages` actual content - you may set the initial static page (product landing page) as canonical for all the dynamic URLs related to it. In case the parameters affect the content - you should probably add the parameters that are being used to the list of parameters to ignore in Google Search Console.

To fix the broken links you should just find these exact 404 pages first, and then investigate where the URLs to these pages are present. You can use any tool for finding broken links for that.
