I am researching my seo strategy and need some free tools to analyse competitors, create keywords etc.

semrush looks great but its $99 a month which is over my budget.

Can anyone recommend some good tools to get started with seo

I am particularly interested in any free tools to analyse my main competitor where there backinks are, keywords and what content they are generating to get traffic.

Also, can anyone comment on whether any other search engines might have less competition than Google.

If you have no budget you can go for free tools like openlinkprofiler or ranksignals to analyze backlinks. I havent found any tool to analyze keywords so cant give any suggestion for that.

Also if the pricing is high you can opt for groupbuy they would be cheaper and can get your task done.

After Google shut down keyword planner for free users, I have been searching the web for alternative free SEO tools for keyword analysis but couldn't find any good ones so far, except the scams that are claiming to be free but are not like SEOBook and keyword.io, or the very limited free trials that are useless for good results.
Unfortunately I don't think there will be any free ones; looking at the high demands and the ridiculous prices charged by paid keyword research tools.

The free tools are not good like SEMrush. I would recommend you to use promo code of SEMrush that gives one month free trial. The pic is that to create a new semrush account with new card and cancel it just before 30 days are ending. '

I used this technique to use semrush for 2 month free.

    Hi @mknee,

Of course there are tons of free and paid tools for seo and keyword research in the market. Some of them are listed by warriors in this thread.

Most free tools have limited capability except for some really good ones.

One of the most important criteria is to analyze the top 10 results of the keyword your are targeting. These are the your competitors so to speak.

Two ways of analyzing them, by manual way and by paid tools.

Depending on your budget, buying a $99/month tool which you seldom use is not value for money.

Manual analysis is by far only qualitative and time consuming
Paid tool - as I said, you may have to fork some money. There is no free lunch.
