I know this has been ask a lot of times but hey it is 2017 so maybe there is an update.

1. Anyway, just want to know which is the best keyword research tool at the moment paid or free?

I read somewhere that google keyword planner is ok but it is best used for adwords? and not really that good for keyword research? i dont know. i am kind of confuse with. i dont know if you even understand what i am asking.

2. also how to you select your keywords?

i know each one has his own but basically what are the parameters that you follow? range of monthly searches, competition, etc...

3. ive tried google keyword planner just a while ago. monthly searches for the kw in australia is 10-100. does figuratively mean that only 10-100 users typed on that kw in a 12 month period? so out of millions who live in this country, a range of 10-100 users searched on that kw? or am i missing something here? by the way competition was high despite of low number of search

thank you

I would recommend you to use the followings :

    1. MOZ
2.Bing search engine analytics and keyword help
    3. KWfinder

Apart from this, there is no such good and accurate tools to give you the best keywords, but by searching from this all and analysing what is best, you can find some help. But for long tail keywords, i would say you to use reddit and subreddits, and also quora ! Yes, we can find competitive keywords from the questions asked.

For keyword research I used to rely on Longtail Pro and Google Keyword planner but after the recent update I shifted to KwFinder which is good and helps me in determining basic things before picking keywords.

Best would be to go with the keywords that have good monthly searches like 500+ MS and have less competition so that you can rank faster.

Google Adwords is the best tool that can abet you to make a complete research for your website keywords according to the locations you're targeting. It will help you to search for specific keywords which can help you to generate huge traffic within a few days of its posting. Use location specific keywords so that you can generate traffic from such locations where competition is very low & easy to promote your website.

I have personally been using SEMrush for last 1-2 years. This tool performs better than others and gives the keyword difficulty level ideas. It shows the difficulty level on the scale of 1-100. If the keyword difficulty level is higher then it means the competition for that particular keyword is also higher.

It is suggested to target only those keywords having keyword difficulty level is less or equal than 30. Sometimes, you may find some keywords with Zero competition that means there is no or very less competition (sites with low authority).

The number of searches given is for 30 day periods. 10-100 means between 10 and 100 times in the previous 30 days...

How you choose the keywords depends who you are after on that particular page. A page for adwords is different from a page that sells a product directly, which is different from a page on an affiliates' site.

Your skill at ranking is a factor... So are your resources and the amount of money you make per sale.

Low skills, few resources, low income means you should rank for many keywords with little traffic as long as the competition is close to 0. High skills, lots of resources, high payout, you could go for keywords with some competition.

Since you seem to be a complete beginner, go for very low competition (but not the one that Google gives, that's for adwords) and 100 searches a month... 100 searches a month, usually means low competition.
