Hi everyone, few weeks back i had some people on this forum tell me to use my skills (web design & music producer) to my advantage. so i thought about putting together a music blog but with a twist. I make mainly calming (slow, ambient, meditation) type beats. what i wanted to do was making a youtube channel and a blog posting my ambient beats for people to relax to. Also start up a podcast. I had an idea to do meditation mixed with motivational stuff. i have a home studio so i can even record motivational speeches over my music n make a video !

How important is it to use keywords in my domain name...? i have a few ideas.

i want it to base around 2 niches (mediation/motivation) or can i have my own name...but use keywords in the blog instead. (head title etc.)

For you, and your given situation.. forget the keyword in the domain name, and think BRAND

Savidge4 is correct, reading your description I would definitely recommend you rather think of a brand for your domain name, instead of focusing on keywords.

Your brand should then be applied consistently where you set up a YouTube, Facebook fan page, Twitter, LinkedIn page for your brand.

YouTube can also be a very powerful form of advertising for you where you can post demo versions of your mediation/motivation music, as you continue to promote the music you will be able to gain subscribers.

Keywords are a standard part of SEO, and have been since the business began. Keyword rich domain names are excellent for business because they can provide an increase in the reliability of your site and business.

It seems quite hard to think of a domain name that would be unique and memorable while including a long keyword like 'mediation' or 'motivation'; and a too long domain name may be hard to memorize, which will not be in your favor.

Braned domain name is way better than a keyword in it. You`d better use the keywords in H1s, or in URLs while developing your website structure. Optimize the URLs so that they would be desriptive and include the keywords relevant to the content of each page.

As far as on-page SEO goes, keywords in a domain name do nothing to help you with Google. What helps a little is when people link to you, using your domain name as the anchor text. If your domain name has the keywords in it, you benefit from the keywords being in the link's anchor text.

Nevertheless, for a site such as yours, branding is probably more important unless you can think of a one word brand and tack the rest on - ApexMedidationMusic.com

I agree with Savidge4 and Oscar D, you should focus on your brand that shows your uniqueness as an artist.
I suggest that you focus on one platform at a time.
for me, It is better if you start with youtube.

    Good luck.

I agree with that others have said.

IF you go the making your own brand don't make the domain name weird make it memorable for visitors to remember it the first time they see it.
