Why some expired domains with high DA are listed on godaddy auctions for just few dollars ? are there any benefits from buying such domains ?

Yes they can be used as PBNs or you can flip those domains back for higher price. If the metrics are good.

I was wondering if they were panelized or deindexed by Google that's why they are auctioned for so cheap prices while other domain names are less of age and DA are sold for thousands of $?
Does godaddy evaluate domain names before auctioning them? it's not fair or smart to sell 20 years aged domain name for $12 isn't it?

How did you conclude that they are high authority?

Maybe that's where the issue is. Long in existence is not the same as high authority. Number of pages is not the same as high authority.

Amazon.com is not a high authority site because of the number of pages it has or because it's been around a while (though, usually, it takes a while) but because it has got people like you and me to trust it, to think it has high authority... I.e., they did it because they delivered on their promises consistently enough.

Because DA is highly inaccurate and does not tell you on its own if it is a good domain or not.

      That could be another reason.
How to check if a domain is good or penalized by Google?

You want to look at the sites link profile. You need to look at live links to get an idea if the domain is worthwhile and if the DA is at all accurate or just completely wrong.

And even then, you need to understand what DA is. A site can have a low DA, but be valued much more in the eyes of Google because Google has much, much more data than Moz does about a domain.

Besides looking at the links it has, it is always a good idea to use the Wayback Machine to check the site out over the years. Until you do that, you can't see what this site was really about and whether it has anything to do with what you are promoting.
