yes, plagiarism hurt your SEO because Google dosen't like the plagiarized/duplicate contents. Google will marked your website as low content web-page and can't give you the higher ranking in the searches.

Google won't see your site as important - and SEO won't matter when your site is taken down by a DMCA....

You know it's wrong - clearly your only concern is whether you will be caught.

And people wonder why "internet marketers" are a half step below used car salesmen in reputation.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Copyscape has nothing to do with SEO.

Plagiarism isn't necessarily going to hurt your SEO, but it is likely to hurt your wallet if the copyright owner decides to take legal action.

Really? I know some people who has copied content on his main site, but it has nothing to do with them. However, like you said, I lost some website for DMCA laws.

Largely depends on the laws in the country where the site is hosted and if the copyright owner wants to pursue additional legal action.

At a minimum though, they can file a DMCA with your host and/or Google and have the site taken down and removed from Google search results.

It depends on the content being scraped. Public Domain content is fine, no big deal.

As far as SEO, the weaker site/page will lose and possible get buried in Supplemental SERPs where it will never be found by traffic.

Copyscape is irrelevant, has nothing to do with SEO.

If you live in china, turkey, russia, iran, venezuela, north korea, syria, india, pakistan, ukraine, bangladesh, vietnam, indonesia,...well just about 75% of the world....who cares?

Copied content by itself is not plagiarism. I don't think people know what plagiarism means.

YES. It not only affects your SEO but also your website reputation. Everywhere it has been mentioned that we need QUALITY CONTENT. If you are using plagiarized content, then what is the use? Creating lots of mediocre or low-grade content will lead your website to nowhere. So, do not focus on quantity, go for quality.
Everytime you publish any content, make sure you check it through any plagiarism checker like Paperrater or Smallseotools.

Google is aware on content duplication and sometimes the duplicated content still ranks. It has nothing to do with your SEO but with your reputation in the field will truly hurt.

What matters here is not only does plagiarism badly affect your SEO, but your credibility as well. In this field, the credible only stands strong, so better think of this one when moving forward.

    Good luck.

    Pal,

Why would you resort to plagiarizing if you can make one content new again (through rewriting)? As per observation, Google LOATHES copied/plagiarized content. And, that's the worst way to start, right?

If you got some content you really, really like, have skilled writers rewrite them for you.

    Good luck!

plagiarism isn't going to hurt your seo. But google may de-value your website. Because search engines want to provide best results to users, not duplicate ones.

Google Matt Cutts said twice that you should not stress about it, in the worse non-spammy case, Google may just ignore the duplicate content. Matt said in the video, " I wouldn't stress about this unless the content that you have duplicated is spammy or keyword stuffing."

So it's more like Google deciding what to show rather than penalizing.

    MOZ says the following:
"When there are multiple pieces of identical content on the Internet, it is difficult for search engines to decide which version is more relevant to a given search query. To provide the best search experience, search engines will rarely show multiple duplicate pieces of content and thus, are forced to choose which version is most likely to be the original - or best. When duplicate content is present, site owners suffer rankings and traffic losses, and search engines provide less relevant results.".

So duplicate content won't hurt your SEO directly, but the are some unpleasant consequences.

How are the rankings affected if we copy paste content in blog comments, are such comments prone to copy scape?

How google sees auto generated content? Like word spinners, article rewriters etc?

obviously plagiarism effects the ranking of the site, because if a content is already owned by someone before then how can you publish that content using your tag, if you do that search engine will ban you for this. Search engines like unique contents for indexing..

  • Plagiarism as the name suggests is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. See what I did there!!!
The latest september 2016 Google Penguin Update had introduced REAL TIME feature meaning the google crawler/bot can identify/recognize the authenticity of your content. If it is plagiarised your site will be down-ranked (negative SEO impact).
Best to come up with unique content which is at-least copyscape pass.

Hmm. Content theft can hurt your SEO badly and ruin your professional reputation. Google is smart enough to recognise duplicated content and punish you. Create unique, well-written content to attract audience and boost organic SEO traffic. SEO rankings is the face of your business

Google don't like duplicate content. If you copied someone's work than you might have problem with it. Your site will soon hit by Google penalty. You will also face legal action as well for copyright infringement.

Yes it will hurt your Seo,because like others have replied about here Google will find that your content is not unique and therefore will not rank it Beyond that you must think about your reputation as well, your reputation as a serious marketer can be damaged by copying someone elses content if you haven't asked for permission.
