You did a 301 redirect from another domain to this domain or you redirected this domain to a new domain?

I had domain on #1 for more than 2 weeks and suddenly today it dropped to 20-40.
I am trying to find the cause for this .
I Paid someone to rank my website it was going well day by day ranking was going up 56..55..24..20..10..5..4....3.
So when it was on rank number 3 on google I decided to buy expired domain. I bought two expired domain one for PBN and one for 301 redirection.
i went to top page of google with in few days
i dont know was it because of expired domains or because of guy whom am paying for SEO.but it did went to top of google.

It stayed #1 for 2 week I was very much happy.
But suddenly today my website traffic dropped I can see my keywords in position 20 -40.

So I did little investigation I used ahreaf.com to check my backlinks and achor text.I can see they anchor text that I was targeting for my main website is gone there are anchor text from website which i used for PBN "PBN was gambling realted so there is lot of gambling related anchor text" and i can see un-usual backlinks so i am guessing this sudden deranked happen because for 301.If yes is there quick fix to put back in normal and keep my website in top again or if no... "Am I wrong ? " does 301 works like that. It is deranked only because of google dance
      Confused

A 301 redirect is key to maintaining a website's domain authority and search rankings when the site's URL is changed for any reason. It easily sends visitors and search engines to a different URL than the one they originally requested -- without having to actually type in a different URL.

There is no definite fix. If it was the 301 redirect, you can remove it and wait a few weeks to see what happens.

I would also check Google Search Console for any manual penalties.

In the gambling niche you have to be careful. It's one of those niches that competitors will be quick to rat you out if you are doing anything suspicious.

you still didn't understand what am trying to say ......one of my friend taught me about 301 redirection ..he explained 301 will help me to rank on google fast ...so I bought expired domain i asked him before buying the domain he also said 301 is not necessarily needs to be related niche until and unless it is indexed in google with few DA PA and roz rank so i did trust him and bought it.

Wht my final question is... Is he wrong? or I am wrong? ..I am guessing 301 is problem now cause i didn't know all authority ,links and anchored text is transferred from expired to my domain ......if i am wrong than 301 is not problem there is something wrong beside 301 or may b just google dance ..

Lets make it more simple ..
          1.PBN in problem
          2.Not PBN something else.

          just answer 1 or 2

if 1 how to fix PBN problem

if 1 how to fix PBN problem

            Oh, no. I understand completely.

You bought a domain about gambling and redirected it to your site that has nothing to do with gambling.

Read that sentence a few times and maybe it will sink in why that was a bad idea.

Although rare, that sort of activity can get a site penalized.

What it can also do is transfer existing penalties through the 301 redirect.

(If you are going to mess around with 301 redirects, in the future remember that DA and PA are highly inaccurate many times and do not give you the full picture if a domain is worth using or not.)

I highly doubt it is the PBN link. I don't think I have ever seen a website lose rankings like that from a single link.

Another possibility is that you were looking at personalized search results in the first place and were never really ranking that high to begin with.

Again, if it is the 301 redirect that caused the problem, there is no guaranteed fix. You can turn the 301 redirect, but that doesn't mean Google is not going to keep your domain in the shit-house for a long time afterwards.

I would probably turn off the redirect, and in the meantime start over on a new domain in case it never recovers.

It could be the 301 redirect. It might not be the 301 redirect. It very likely is, but nobody can tell you 100% for sure.

I would sure as hell never redirect a gambling site to my site that has nothing to do with gambling though.

It might also be something your "SEO guy" was doing. You did not provide any details of what kind of work they were doing, so who knows?

Hey mate, the reason your seeing a drop in rankings is because using "301 redirects" to rank fast works, BUT its a "churn n Burn" Method, meaning after 1-8 moths rankings will bleed and you will slowly start dropping in the serps, the only way to keep perminent long term rankings is by using whitehat link building practices and if you do use any blackhat link building you need to do it real carefully and cover your tracks approprietly.

    Hope that helps mate!

Ps. remember a good seo practitioner is testing all the time, so dont look at this a a failure but rather a lesson to be careful and change tactics when using pbn's and 301's or anything BH related for that matter

That is not true. A 301 redirect doesn't bleed over time.

Nobody knows what the frick you are saying because you don't know what the frick you are saying.

Where do you learn this crap from?

Nobody except google is going to show you any hint as to how many or what links count.

And if the domain expired....then google could indeed just cancel out everything.

If you are doing a 301 on the domain you bought, then you must be paying for hosting fees.

    Which is inane.

I could say something like put content on the domain, link to your money sites.

But you are obviously out on Planet X, reaching for some black hole sci-fi SEO.

One new form of SEO: Sci-fi SEO.

    Or perhaps What-The-Frick-SEO.

    Remove the 301 redirect.
If you want to use this method in future:
    • Invest In A Quality Spam Free Expired or Aged Domain
    • Keep The Relevenacy As Close As Possible To Your Domain You Are Redirecting The Expired Domain To
    • Ideally Build A Site With The Expired Domain & Leave It Up For A Couple Of Weeks & Redirect Via htaccess Any Previous Links To Root Domain
    • If You Use The Method To Build A Site First Then Add It To Google Console So That You Can Add Redirect Info There Later
    • When You Do The Redirect Then Add That Info In Google Console As Well As Domain Registrar

This really needs me to do a webinar and blog post to go through it all properly, add resources and lay it out in detail, but i have used this strategy many times in the past and it works really well if implemented properly.

There are many variations of doing this too, for example you could redirect as 2nd tier type link using a blogspot blog or other parasite platform.

As someone mentioned before don't be put off with failure, but learn from it.

However, redirecting a gambling domain to your money site wasn't the best choice. just remove that redirect and you should see your rankings back up, often pretty quickly too.

Assuming you have control of the domain you redirect from in future (and you should never try this unless you have full control) then you can "TEST" by redirecting to another site first and watch the results, then if working well change the redirect to your own money url.

Hope this helps a little, but its way too detailed a topic for me to cover in a reply.

First of all you may not be ranking #1 if you checked from your web browser without logging out of google, clearing your cache and going incognito. Second if you were in the #1 position for only 2 weeks, you will still be bouncing around, a site doesnt just go straight to #1 and stay there it takes time to settle and it could bounce back and forth from page 1 2 3 or 4 until it does settle. Third one link is not going to kill your sites rankings unless its the only link you have. If that were the case I could just point a bad link to one of my top competitors and watch them drop. Google knows this. If you want to rank well, write good original content and get some strong backlinks and you will rank.
