I will focus on the don't in professional SEO.
    Don't
1]Do meaningless & low quality social bookmarking, infact my research suggests that this activity negatively impacts the seo
2]Do low PR or DA directory & classified submissions, same thing here.
3]Use fake or anonymous google or hotmail accounts for guest comments or posts, as they will definitely be ignored by authors meaning you are wasting your time with this activity.
4]Use free seoprofiler or ahref or similar seo analytics tools which don't offer in-depth analysis of your project

Yes, you are right Priti. These techniques must not be implemented at any cost whatsoever.

    Do's

    1. Have your site in order. Fix technical problems, 404's, broken links, make sure the site is crawl-able. Increase the speed

    2. Target your pages to specific keyword targets based on that page's/keyword's specificity/generality.

    3. Write valid, relevant and informative content.

    4. Word order is important but also does the focus of the terms in the Title and onpage.

    5. Use variants of your terms and related supportive terms (check Google's Contextual Targeting Tool).

    6. Promote your site's content via Social. Tweet it, post it, get it followed.

    7. Contribute to relevant sites for your subject-matter.

    Don'ts

    1. Buy links

    2. Over-optimize or spamm or stuff or blackhat

    3. Use exact-match or overly stuffed or keyword rich anchor text. Opt normally for your website.com for links from other sites.

    4. Post useless, uninformative comments on other sites just for a link.

    5. Duplicate content or provide lightly paraphrased content.

    6. Make spelling or grammatical errors on your site.

These are some good core do's and don'ts.
