    If you want other websites to be referring their visitors to your website, then there are several strategies you can engage in.

    1) LINK EXCHANGE: contact webmasters and product developers and negotiate on how to display a link on their website so that clients can click and move to your website.

    Referral traffic can be acquired from various source like social media, Forums, QnA website so it depends on you where you want to invest time or money.
    Like you can invest into paid advertisements over facebook, Pinterest and receive traffic from it.

    The formula for getting referral traffic is simple:
    1. Write or currate content with high utility value
    2. Promote your useful content to centers of influence

    People who act as centers of influence will refer traffic to the content they find as useful to themselves and people they know, or follow their advice.

    The easiest method to more sharing of your content, is to simply ask. I use a Authors box at the end of all of my content.. I ask for the share. I also ensure that my social SHARE buttons are in there as well.

    I am a BIG fan of creating content in PDF format. To include my weekly emails to my mailing lists. At the bottom of each page I say "This content is ok to share" or "Sharing is caring" and I have working icons to share the PDF on social sites.

    A couple of my sites I have actually created "Media" pages where I have banners and such in different sizes. Also have the code snippets for each.

    Bottom line.. if you are not ASKING you shall never receive. And by removing the friction to share by actually having the share buttons right where you ask for the share is really helpful.

    Another added.. I personally don't use it, but see it all the time, those mid content twitter share boxes, I am sure have got to work.

    Business listing on top authority sites.
    Do guest blogging on good industry sites.
    Social Bookmarking on top channels like Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Reddit etc.
    Submit your business on relevant niche submission sites.

  • Thre are a lot of ways- free and paid. You may experiment with social media marketing, SEO, or paid ads like solo ads or Google/Bing ads. Make sure that you also offer good and quality content, especially with your landing page. The key is to experiment and conduct a lot of tests.

    Find blogs with substantial topical trust flow in your niche. You can use Alltop(dot)com to find prominent blog post for a topic. Use Serpstat's "Top Pages" to find pages with the best visibility for a keyword (also a great method when you do your content research, as usually these page have the best content, and thus you can research each of your keywords)

    Reach them and propose to do guest-blogging for them.

    Promoting your best pieces of content will also increase your site's visibility.
