404 redirected to 410

hi all,
I have change my old dead pages to 410, is this the best way for seo, as I have nothing relevant to redirect it to?

    If they are pages that have links, no, it is not the best way. I'd either create something relevant to 301 them to or simply 301 them to the home page.

    If they do not have any links, I wouldn't really care about them. They have no SEO value anyway. In that case either 410 them or remove them from Google's index via Search Console. Even if you don't do a thing, it won't affect your site's SEO.

      I agree with you. i would be doing the same thing by redirecting the home page to 301 instead of 410.
