Multiple Properties in Google Webmaster Tools

Hi there,

About a month ago, I verified my website as a property within Google Webmaster Tools. Upon Google's recommendation I then also added the www., https:// and https://www. variants of my website.
To make it clear - I want everything to link back to my http:// version. I'm unsure if adding these additional properties within Webmaster Tools will either help or hurt my SEO. Every property seems to show different stats.
Could anyone recommend a way to consolidate all this?

First of all there is no necessity in adding all these urls types. If your site is say 'http://xyz.com' then just add that even you don't have to add 'www' to the url because as you will fetch any url under 'http://www.xyz.com' it will show 301 redirected. And 'https' is for sites who handles money transactions through their pages. There is no need of it in a normal site.

      Ignore this. It is wrong.

Yes, Search Console requires you to add both versions in order to set your preferred version.

If you are seeing different data among the two versions, that likely means you do not have a proper 301 redirect setup to the version you want to use.

In other words, both the WWW and non-WWW version of your site are accessible. In your case, you said you want the WWW version redirecting to the non-WWW version.

Setup a 301 redirect of the WWW to non-WWW version in your .htaccess file.

We have to check all the versions of the main url is properly 301 redirected. The answer to that query I will say YES we have do it.

But we have to submit all the versions to Google Webmasters Tool then I will say NO we don't need to do it. Because Google is much smarter now to understand which url to prioritize.

The only time I would see a real benefit in adding any variants to a domain for GWT (a.k.a. Google Webmaster Tools) is if there is unique data as a result from accessing that domain, or if that domain was active in the past and changes were recently made.

If you're just building a site at let's say Example Domain and you never published any content at https://example.com or Example Domain or the like, then I'd only have Example Domain listed in GWT and the rest of the variants not listed.

If you decided to rename the official domain of the site, say from Example Domain to Example Domain then keep both versions live in GWT and watch the crawling stats as well as the indexing to make sure Example Domain has the traffic. Once Example Domain in GWT reports no traffic or very little traffic, then you can safely remove it and leave Example Domain in.

once your website is added with https, then you should ask your developer to just do 301 redirect of http version of the website to the https version.
example, site is http://www.abc.com, so do 301 redirection :
    http://www.abc.com to https://www.abc.com
