Nofollow is an HTML attribute Backlink using Meta #rel by Matt Cutts of Google's Webspam team head and Jason Shellen of Blogger.com introduced on 18-01-2005.

Normally, on a single page when you have a link from another website pointing back to your site, the Google search engine will scan for the beetles from the top down and when the link and the link doesn't add Nofollow tag, it will track which search to your website.
Yourself for example a link pointing to another site about yourself like this:

    Onpage SEO tutorials

At the moment, I call this Backlink Nofollow because they've tagged rel = "nofollow" on that path, search engines will ignore and not visit his page.
    What is Dofollow backlink?
From the Nofollow concept you can already understand what Dofollow. These are the properties that allows search engine beetle access and search the content on your page, from which will crawl out the other links which you cleverly placed on the site (Internal Link), this is very good to increase the prestige and quality for your website with reviews of Google.

Specially for newbies who are new to SEO or people who are still not clear about Nofollow or dofollow, this post will be useful. Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct search engines bots that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index

Nofollow contextual backlinks also helps your site gain some authority. You start getting extra referral traffic, you probably will also be getting new subscribers, your links on big websites can help your site gain trust.

Do follow links are those which allow search engines to follow link.
Where as no follow links are those which don't allow search engine to follow link.

But both links are good for success of website because both have their benefits.

Both are just links who can send traffic. In terms of SEO, do-follow links passes link juice which helps sites to get ranked and whereas no-follow links does not.

There is lot of difference. Its like day and night.

There is a term called juice, which a website passess when it links to another website.

    Here are manjor differences:

    No follow:

    Don't pass the juice
Consider the link as non trusted
You don't get benefit of the website's high PR.

    Do follow:

    Passes the juice
    Consider the link as trusted
    Benefit of website's high PR
    Help is link building.

    Nofollow

Link which contain Rel=”nofollow” HTML attribute is nofollow the attribute simply assist search engines to know more about the link. Whenever you found a little piece of code in your link i.e. Rel=”nofollow” it mean that the link is nofollow and these types of links does not impact the authority nor help you out to Improve Seo ranking or visibility of your website.

Because rel nofollow tag is a noindex tag which has in fact a clear instruction for Search engines that do not try to index particular link.

By adding the above mentioned code for noindex crawlers simply ignore it and do not give any value nor pass link juice which cannot be prolific for batter ranking in search engines.

    Dofollow

It is a type of link which has a potential to improve the ranking and the credibility of your website in Google. By default every link is dofollow, link which does not contain Rel=”Nofollow” Attribute is dofollow and these are considered to be the most powerful links for any websites.

These links allow search engine to doindex and pass link juice which is indeed the most vital thing for webmasters. The credit goes to Google who introduces dofollow link in 2005 to deeply filter search engine results for spam indexing.

A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs. No follow links get no love. Theirs is a sad and lonely life.
Dofollow links allow google (all search engines) to follow them and reach our website. Giving us link juice and a backlink. If a webmaster is linking back to you with this link both Search Engine and Humans will be able to follow you

Even though, it's a sound exercise to use No follow weblink feature to those weblink, where you don't want to move link-juice. Dofollow hyperlinks allow search engines (all look for engines) to adhere to them and achieve our website. ... If a website owner is backlinking to you with this weblink both Search Motor and People will be able to adhere to you.

do-follow links passes link juice that helps sites get ranked and no-follow links does not, but its still good to have a mix of both do-follow and no-follow.

As the name suggests, no-follow means SEs do not consider that link for their internal calculation for search positions, while the do-follow (that actually means Not no-follow) will be eligible to pass the so called link juice.

Nofollow links attributes do not allow search engine bots to follow link. That means if the website owner is linking back to you with nofollow attributes, it does not pass on link juice. Only Humans will be able to follow the links. Though some time back Google made it clear that they don’t consider nofollow link attributes but weight age of such links are really less. Even though, it’s a good practice to use Nofollow link attribute to those link, where you don’t want to pass link-juice.

Dofollow links allow google (all search engines) to follow them and reach our website. Giving us link juice and a backlink. If a webmaster is linking back to you with this link both Search Engine and Humans will be able to follow you. The best way to give someone dofollow love is allowing keyword in the anchor text. This means when you are linking to any website or page, use the targeted keyword as anchor text.

By default all the hyperlinks are dofollow. So, you don’t need to do anything to make a link do-follow.

    -> Robots Meta Tag : <meta name=”robots” content=”nofollow” />

This tells bots/crawlers/spiders not to follow links on the full page.

    -> Link Attribute : <a href=”http://www.google.com” rel=”nofollow”>

This tells search engines not to count the link in terms of ranking pages.

Nofollow link is exactly vice-versa of dofollow link. These are noncrawling link which are not passed by search engines bot and hence can't be cached or indexed. It is obvious when we wish to prevent a link from crawling and indexing.

Dofollow link is a kind of hyperlink which says all search engines crawlers to pass through which also put an impact over page rank. When we opt to employ or attempt to achieve a dofollow link then it is counted by search engines and sits in the eye of Google, Bing, MSN, Yahoo etc. as a backlink for your website and enhances your site ranking.

    Thank you!

Actually, a nofollow tag tells Google not to pass juice or anchor text; it doesn't tell it to not crawl.

    understand a simple way:

When a Google Bot visit your page to update the content. It will have two ways to update and put the contents into the data warehouse and does not update the content don't you allow or not read it.

When a link appears in the content, then Google will index it if you allow it to reference that URL using dofollow attribute. Also if you want Google to ignore links that use the Nofollow attribute.

Doing so aims to help Google Bot index your website content more quickly without having to take the run through, run back up the URLs to find the information for you. It will understand and ignore the Nofollow links in order to continue to collect its data

    Thank you!
    hope helpful for you.
