Backlink strategy for a news website.

Hey All,
I want to ask you how would you approach a backlink strategy for a news website.
We have several articles per day. let's say 100 per week.
We are getting "business" backlinks to the homepage. How would you approach the backlink strategy for the news page, since many of them are news, so are not relevant in 24h.

      hey, you are right, I wasn't very clear. The question is:
      • Since the articles are breaking news, so very timing related. How would you get links to these pages, considering that after few hours the news is not relevant and nobody will be interested in linking it.
      • The second question is, more in general: how the backlink strategy is different in a news website compared to a corporate website?

    Start targeting major news sites for backlinks.
    Also do some targeting for long lasting news items - Trump, Syria ISIS, Mosul etc

    News needs to be Original, informative, entertaining, practical, visual, interactive & of course timely. The more of those boxes you can tick the better your backlinks.

      Thanks Gary. So basically you say that it's something will happen naturally without asking/paying for them.
      Maybe using data, infographic and interactive might be the key.

    You can use web2.0 to do backlinks for your site. Afterthat, ping the backlinks or index with google.
