To add this code to the left hand side of your page, open the sidebar.php file of your theme and paste the adsense code in there.

    Hope this helps

Does it have a sidebar? If so, you can just use the text widget and paste the Adsense code in the widget. Or what I usually do is edit the sidebar.php and index.php file to make it display on themes that don't have sidebars.

PM me the site's link and I can show you where you need to put the code. I can even code a custom options panel for the theme if you need.

I think you should email him directly or use someone he refers for help with this because part of the agreement for using his program was to not share details, particularly about his template. So showing it to someone who is not in the program would violate the agreement. And it's questions like this that prove the need for a members only forum. If there was a private place to ask these questions people wouldn't have to put them on a public forum and potentially show people what Xfactor wants kept secret.

    just my $.02

The private forum is coming in less than a week.

Very good news. Care to comment on my thread about what to put on the About Us page? Not sure that was covered in the book...if it was I missed it.

It's in there, which you can use a variation of the example site from
          my book.

But really it doesn't matter. Just type something like:

"Thank you for visiting our website. Having been passionate
about Kona Coffee Beans for nearly 2 decades, you can find
the latest news and information related to Kona and the coffee
          industry. Etc. Etc. Etc."

I just came up with this off the top of my head because it
does not have to be some complicated piece of content.

Thanks for that. I'm going to read it again tonight at dinner. First read through I was concentrating more on the research side. I worked on that today to the tune of 50+ keywords that are potentially interesting. Gotta love that.

Unless you have a plugin that does it, you'll have to edit a few of the PHP files that come with the template you are using.

    Jim,
I presume u are using wordpress.
This could work with any theme. Follow these steps:
    1) Upload any adsense plugin: adsense manager / adsense deluxe / easy adsense / adsense integrator. These all are very user friendly adsense integrators within the post/pages.
    2) Get into your admin dashboard, activate the relevant plugin.
    3) Open the adsense plugin settings options.
    4) Open a different window in your browser and get into your adsense account and set up an appropriate adsense block.
    5) Copy that code on your clipboard.
    6) Get back to your adsense plugin options page in your blog dashboard.
    7) Paste it after you have decided where u would like the adsense adverts to show up.
That's all. If u are lost, just pm me and I will sort this out for you.
    All the best.

I am in the program and even build my own version of the wordpress theme so I know what you are talking about and the way you said is the easiest option. Just include it in your post/page at the top and start writing. No need for plugins or other diving into code.

You can do what edynas said and simply paste in the code each and every time you add a page/post if you like, that's easy enough.

There's no need to tweak multiple php files (I don't think). What you need is a little bit of php code in your page.php page that prevents adsense from showing on your About, Contact, etc. pages only on your content pages. I use pages (instead of posts) with the tweaked WP version that I created that looks just like John's template and it works perfectly for my sites.

I solved that in my wordpress version to make the adsense only show in posts. The adding of adsense is done in a template options page.

The reason why is that I did wanted to use posts as those turn up in a rss feed which will be usefull when submitting it to rss directories to get more backlinks (unless you use a plugin to also include pages in rss feeds)

I created a wordpress theme that is exactly like John's layout too and it allows you to have either posts or pages for your money keyword articles.

If you want to use posts for use with rss feeds then no problem, and you can control which posts or pages show up in the header or footer and of course adsense only shows on your "money keyword" posts/pages.
