Question regarding Ahrefs rank and Domain Rating

I've been building backlinks for both my company site, and a client's website, and while I am seeing very distinct results in URL rating, organic keywords, and links, both sites have been decreasing in ahrefs rank, and the domain rating has stayed level.
I understand the value of dofollow links, but I would like some feedback of how important they are for ahrefs rank. Thank you in advance for your help.

Ahrefs ranking doesn't mean anything. It is a 3rd party metric based on their own link database and their own guidelines. It has nothing to do with rankings.

It can be used as a guide for evaluating links and pages on websites, but can also be highly inaccurate.

I would not obsess over it on your own sites. Not worth even looking at in those cases.

We use them all. Moz, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Alexa, etc. I understand they are all tools for indication. Moz is absolutely the most frustrating and inaccurate of all, next being Alexa. I'm asking more regarding actions others have taken to move the chains. I am looking to revise my internal processes in a way that will lead my employees to have a routine.

But why? You should be focused on rankings, not your scores in 3rd party metrics.

I understand using 3rd party metrics to evaluate other websites and web pages, but they don't really hold any value in evaluating your own.

Improving your Ahrefs score is not necessarily going to improve your rankings, so why worry about it?

I'm focused on all of it. I don't believe you understand what I do for clients. Content structure is only part of rankings. I use what is called a triangle of trust for content creation. The 3 parts of the triangle are:
          • Content
          • Traffic
          • Keyword Anchored Dofollow Backlinks
Using Latent Semantic Application, in conjunction with content structure, I work with clients to ensure proper content, keywords, density, keyword difficulty, and audience targeting.
Going back to the original question, I asked if someone knew of the metrics used to positively progress both Ahrefs rank, and Domain rating. I promise that I am very aware of the other aspects of creating content in a way that ranks. What I am looking for, is to find out which other metrics I can use to stay on top of my employees to ensure every possible aspect of authority building is in place.

Mike is right, you're worrying about stuff that doesn't rank pages.
