Hi to all,

When I check Seoquake this is the warning message I receive. Should I resolve this considering it is important for SEO or should I ignore it.

However, I would like to know what does this mean....

Error Message
Your page does not utilize Schema.org markup.
You can validate your markup with the Google Structured Data Testing Tool.

Thanks

Yes, Schema is important for SEO. So, you can build schema markup code and put on your website to help the search engines return more informative results for users.

Here`s a 'getting started with schema' for you: https://schema.org/docs/gs.html

This isn't the best way, but it's a good start, and better than nothing. Take a look at seoprofiler.com - reg for a free trial account and input your site details.

When you're in, there's a tab on the LHS for "Optimization" ... click that and you'll find a Rich Snippet creator - it's as simple as filling in the details and copying the code to the <head> of the page you're targeting.

It's best to have different code for each page/service you offer. If you're on Wordpress, you'll need a plugin called something like "Add Per Page Head" (it adds a page-specific markup section to each page/post).

        Hope that helps,

Schema markup will not help your pages rank better. That said, SEO means more than just rankings. You are optimizing your search listings if you make them stand out more - something you can accomplish with schema markup.

I`d call Schema an indirect ranking factor (hope no one will nag about the definition). Stand-alone, it will not affect your rankings in any way, but it can make your result stand out with a nice snippet, which is likely to attract the searchers (in the end, you are optimizing for them as well), which in turn can improve your CTR. Google`s being cagey on whether or not user behavior matters, but from my experience/observations it rather does. The more organic clicks you get - the better fit your result is, in the eyes of Google.

So what is the difference between a schema and meta description?

Surely that is the role of a meta description

Meta Description is describing the page content, while schema makes the result look more informative and easy to evaluate (often shows the star-rating as well), see the difference: with/without schema

Depends on the niche you are in.

Here are the correlations for the keyword "Gift Baskets". I don't think google weights it, but having the aggregate rating in a product search helps CTR a lot which may indirectly help you rank better.

Yes, Schema.org is important for SEO. Schema.org rich snippets are. At present there are three methods of implementing Schema.org:

    1. Microdata
    2. RDFa
    3. JSON-LD
Implementation of Schema.org helps distinguish our site among other search results, enriching our results with contact data, product ratings, opinions on the brand, links to our social media channels or an internal search field.

Schema tells the search engines what your data really means. It provides a collection of schemas that webmasters can use to markup HTML pages in a way that should be recognized by search providers.

Your markup will serve as a summary reputation of your site page in which contains the rating and reviews of the users within the product, item, services, etc. This will send a positive signal to Google if the snippet engage well with the target users then it will always provided on their results every time there are related queries.

I am sure you get the picture whether schema is important or not.

    Summary:
    1. Schema is important in terms of user-experience and as a CTA (call-to-action) on SERPs.
    2. It depends on your site category how much schema should you use.
    3. To use schema, if you are using a Wordpress CMS, you can install any well rated plugin and get things going.

    Hope it helps.
