Please help with this specific example

Hi!

I run a listify-based web directory for therapists. And I´m pretty new to SEO. I´ve got quite a lot of listings (real people). But I´m not sure how to SEO them. Lets say Miss X is a massage therapist located in London.

So my natural instinct would be to make the SEO title Massage therapist - miss X - London | My site name , keyword massage

Then I realize that it will take ages, if not never, to rank high for massage London (considering thats very hard competition)

But even if I try other combinations like neckpain - massage - london | My site name...still a lot of competition.

Any suggestions on how I should go about and do this?

    Use a professional tool that shows keyword difficulty and suggestion for related keywords. MOZ has one if you can afford $100/month.

    Frankly, this seems like something you should have thought of before ever building the site.

      These types of tools are great but only from a SERP competition POV since the tools are misleading noobs.

      When people really want to rank pages, they do real SEO.

        Agreed; no tools are 100% accurate. Still, they help you see which keyword phrases you will have a much better chance of ranking for than others. There are certainly some phrases that are far more difficult to rank for than others - especially if you are a noob.

        We wouldn't dream of putting up a site before we checked out how competitive search terms were and whether there were enough relatively easy ones with enough search volume to make building a site worth the time and effort.

        (We don't use the MOZ tool, incidentally; we have our own proprietary tool).

        That said, yeah, you still have to do SEO - both on-page and off-page - I don't care how easy the competition is.

        I try to do real SEO, but everything i read is very mixed..some says this some say that. It´s not like I expect to rank number 1 the first week..but my page has allready stable page views of about 500 (in a country with 5 million) and about 60-100 unique users every day. Im trying to drive traffic from facebook to my blog page, i have about 5000 real followers on instagram etc.

        I just dont wanna mess up the SEO horribly wrong. It looks good, but I guess I just have to accept that competition for those words (like nutritionst, coach, acupunture, massage etc) will have strong competition.

          The key to ranking for those things is to find broader search terms, that likely have far fewer searches, and build pages around those far more targeted, specific phrases, which undoubtedly have less competition.

          A website/bog has a ton of pages. If every one of them targets easy competition/lower search volume phrases, you can end up ranking well in the SERPs and getting thousands of visitors per day.
