What SEO tactics should I pursue for more traffic?

I have an informative website with about 20 pages of original, informative content, about a niche that has a lot competition, and therefore, big competitors like nationwide companies usually rank higher than my website for short tail keywords.

I'm getting about 5,000-6,000 unique visitors.
I would say about 90% of my traffic comes from long tail keywords.
The site has been up for about 3 years now, and the traffic increased, but during the last year it didn't increase significantly, even though I've tried adding 3 more content pages.

My content is evergreen information so I don't want / need to create a blog.
It is suppose to be a passive income source, so I don't want to be involve in it on a regular basis.

even though I took someone to make the site responsive about 8 months ago, I didn't see a major increase in traffic (Google validated my site to be mobile compliant).

I've tried answering some popular Quora questions (about 5) with content from my website and link to it, but it didn't seem to help as well.

My google Page speed is 93 for desktop and 79 for mobile.
Women from pinterest have linked over 100 times to my pages, which means content is good, but I guess Google doesn't care too much about it, as these links don't have any juice.

In fact some of my rankings have decreased lately.

I'm trying to figure out what SEO tactics should I pursue in order to double or triple my traffic?

I don't mind to hire some freelancer if they can deliver results, but I don't know what such person should do, which skills to look for, and how soon can I see them.

I especially don't want someone to modify the content of my current pages, as I do get traffic for it right now.

- Should I try to buy back-links to specific pages?

- Should I add more content? can it increase the rankings of my current pages?

- Is my page speed good enough, or can it be a problem? competitors seem to have much worse scores.

nothing is more effective than Content Marketing...just keep posting original content...and do promote the same on your Social Media accounts...you can even do guest blogging in parallel on top authority sites...sticking to these two strategies simultaneously will escalate your site traffic and rankings in some time...

Stop your greediness and stay with serving quality content. You are doing well and don't need to do any forceful activities. As i read you have 20 pages those you may spread.
Keep focus on mobile speed also that looks not so impressive according to your success status. your web is informative portal that should be fast and clear. nothing to worry about for getting double or triple traffic because it will happen automatically with time.
"Domain age" factor will work for you that's why Google will keep you ahead of other websites.

Hope, this information will help you to understand.

Well, page speed higher than 85 is good job, so not sure that is the reason of the traffic not increasing.

You've just mentioned women from Pinterest, what about other social media and broader audience? It's always advised to share your content as much as you can through different social media to gain more followers.

If possible, a good practice is to have your own base of subscribers whom you will email on weekly basis and share valuable information stuffed with the links pointing back to your website.

You can as well connect and build relationships with other entrepreneurs, guest post on other blogs for example.

Guest blogging is still effective but only if you manually outreach to the blog that is related to your niche and popular.

The suggestions are quite general but they work for more or less all the niches.

    Best of luck!

Here are some tips to increase your organic (SEO) traffic:

    1. Internal Linking - Everyone talks about how external back links are better than internal back links, and they're right. But that doesn't mean you should ignore internal links. Internal links help guide the search engines through your site. Without internal links, search engines have a harder time figuring out where they should go next. It's your job to make it easier on them to find your important pages. The harder you make it for the search engines, the more likely it is that important pages will be missed by the spiders. And that means lost traffic.

    2. Great content - They say everywhere that content is king and content marketing has been a growing trend in online marketing. The truth is, great content is extremely powerful and separates the wheat from the chaffe. Some benefits of great content are it establishes you as a thought leader, attracts links, attracts social shares, brings traffic to your, builds trust with your audience.

    3. Great relationships - Link building is still one of the most important aspects of SEO. Assuming you have your on-site/technical SEO taken care of, links can really be a traffic driver if used correctly. The problem here is links are really hard to acquire. Good links are even tougher to acquire. I assure you that building great relationships with people will yield you some of the highest quality links you've ever seen. It'll take you some time to develop these but they'll be worth it.

    4. Transcriptions - If you ever wonder how certain websites rank for so many long tail keywords, it's because they have a lot of content and a lot of links. The links tell the search engines that a particular site is authoritative so it tells the search engines that they should be placed higher in the search result pages because the site has pretty much earned it.

    5. User Generated Content - Giving your users the option to produce content for you creates a sense of community and can even help with decision making. Besides helping with a purchase decision, the content generated here is great for SEO. Search engine spiders like unique, helpful content and they get plenty of it from product reviews.

I have found a blog owner that is willing to write a post with a link and a photo to my website, in exchange for money.

    My questions are:

    1. Does the amount of words in the post matter? (they would want more money for a higher amount of words)

    2. Is it OK to let them write the post themselves?

    3. Their rank on Alexa is Lower than mine, by about 700,000 positions. Would I still make an SEO benefit from such post?

    4. Should the post refer and link to my website and home page in general, or is it better if it's targeted to a specific page for which I would like to get more traffic from Google?

    5. What should the anchor text be? exactly the long tail keyword which I want Google users coming from?
