It would be very helpful to know what are the best tactics to start with when you have just finished your new site and want it up and running and do not want to wait for the success for long time. What are the best practices to follow to quickly get traffic to your new site??? I will well appreciate the information from experienced people!!!

You have been posting everywhere trying to find out a "magical" way to get tons of traffic to a brand new site. Simple answer is: It's a brand new site, it will take some time to get decent steady traffic. You won't find a legitimate way to get a lot of traffic unless you really have something unique and popular, and even with that it will not remain steady. The trick is to create a good site with good content, and then be patient as you work each day to link build and get a good reputation for the site.

Ok, so there isn`t a "magical" way, dääm I am rookie and just desperate to start on the right path! And therefore i am hoping for help from the people who are already professional and doing it the right way, is it bad trying to find shortcuts, i hope not.

The right path is the long one. Those who have been in this business for long enough can tell you that there is no tricks or shortcuts, you just have to go out there every day and work your tail off, it will pay off. But it takes time and effort. Don't get discouraged by tomorrow's traffic stats. Read everything you can (this forum is great!) and learn more and more every day. Pretty soon you will be the professional and you wil be doing it the right way.

Yes - have to agree with that.

If you are going to build free traffic then keep adding content and generate backlinks.

Focus on your site and don't get distracted by build another site until your first one is humming........

What kind of marketing have you been doing so far?

My recommendation is definitely SEO, on page & off. You will also see many threads about backlinks & social bookmarking, read up on it, good stuff.

    Good Luck to you!

It depends on how big is your niche and what kind of competition you have on the keywords you are ranking in the search engines. You do need lots of fresh content on your new site and you could focus on long tail keywords to get some decent traffic too as this seems to be a good strategy.

          Twitter

If you're using WP, upload the twitter-poster plugin.

Depending on your niche, how you phrase your post titles and when you make posts, that plugin is good for 100-300 uniques a day.

You can do it manually as well. Go for heavy traffic times like lunch, late afternoon and early evening US time. Always use tinyurl's for you links and make your titles compelling. Don't spam. Good rule of thumb is one ref post for every 4-5 normal posts. Add folks in your niche and hope they follow. Slowly build up followers and shed the non's. Keep your number of followers to those you're following close to the same number. Don't add 300 people at a time.

Do this and you should have at least 100 uniques per day from twitter alone and will slowly build up regulars provided your blog doesn't blow.

                Absolutely.

If someone zero's in on your tweet, they're already interested in that topic. Once on your page, if you've optimized properly that traffic does convert. It also depends a little on your niche. If it's a product type niche, the CTR will be higher. If it's a social niche, it's going to be lower unless the ads are compelling and well placed.

I wouldn't waste my time doing it if the traffic didn't convert.

LOL Raul, you can do it yourself. In fact, it's best if you do actually do it manually at least at the beginning. If you don't have time to do that, try Linkjuicer. A fellow warrior runs that and it comes highly recommended.

Create some Web 2.0 properties, add content and anchored text backlinks (your keywords hyperlinked to your site) to your site. There are more creative and productive methods, but do that first. Try Reddit, Squidoo, Vox, Hubpages, etc. These won't send much traffic if any at first, but they are quality backlinks.

Search WF for web 2.0 backlinks and you'll find a goldmine.

            Hi Raul991,

I am surprised that so far no one has suggested PPC, since this is a PPC forum. The quickest and easiest way to get a large amount of targeted traffic is through advertising and PPC advertising is one of the most effective methods of advertising on the internet. I often use PPC when launching a new site even if I plan to use SEO as the primary long term marketing method.

I you are new to PPC advertising you will need to learn quite a bit before you will perform as well as your competitors. Hiring an experienced PPC manager is the quickest way to get a successful campaign up and running. If you are flat broke then SEO may be a more practical way to go, but there will be a bit of a learning curve either way. Seek out a mentor to guide you if you are in a hurry.

Twitter has to be the fastest way to build your list as radix mentioned above. Once you have a sizable following and even followers then, tweet to an opt in page(squeeze page) to build your list. After all followers are in fact opting in, if you don't spam them and provide good content you should easily get your friends to opt in to a mailing list, use a free bonus incentive.

As you will hear often; the money is in the back end i.e. the list.

    Good luck.

    Hey Raul,

Whilst being new this may be a little advanced but the general idea in marketing is the power of reciprocation, i.e. free gift in exchange for email detail at worst or money at best. If you can create a squeeze page with a gift to giveaway, you can approach giveaway events or even search for others in your niche to offer your gift in their thankyou page/ logged out page/ members area.

With my new sites I always aim for a digg front page. Of course, that requires having some good link bait writing skills as well as knowing some decent diggers, but the upside is getting heaps of links, getting good rankings almost straight away and kickstarting an email list.

    Hi,

There are several ways, you can do...

    * register on social media sites like twitter, facebook, myspace, ning, naymz, linkedIn, forums. It's also a best way for you to market your product.
    * you can also create articles and submit it to directory submissions like ezines, hub, etc.
    * also try to use social bookmarking sites like jumptags, digg, reddit, technorati or you can use Social bookmarking service. Fast tagging and posting to all major social websites - SocialMarker.com for you to easily bookmark your links.
    * one way also is by blog commenting. search some blogs that related to your niche, you can use this when you want to search blogs -> keyword "Enter YourName@YourKeywords in the Name field to take advantage."
