Short Url is easy to share. Some sites have text limit and in that box you have write text as well as link and if your url is long then where you type the text?
So short url is better for SEO

Ideally the length of the URL should be between 3 to 40 characters. Some says it should be below 75 characters and some says it should be below 115 characters.
The short and crisp URL is always better, but it should not be abrupt. The meaning should come out from the URL itself. We even avoid to include prepositions in the URL to reduce the length. But sometimes lengthy URL is good as it becomes self-explanatory. Without looking at the heading, you will understand what is page is exactly talking about. You get more chances to rank in different keywords.
If you are still confused with URLs, you can always consult an expert like Techmagnate. They have expertise in doing any SEO related activities.

Readable URL is better than Short or Long URL.

And the minimum characters you use to deliver your message is best.

Short are better but it's not really for search engines, they can read your 100+ character URL without problems but using long URLs might hurt your user experience. If you can rewrite 100+ URL - do it.

    The URL length doesn't matter.

The page/URL below ranks #1 for the keyword buy pool table.

URL should not more that 60 characters followed by domain name and should be SEO friendly which means there is no special characters and unwanted things. But URL could be short. But lengthy URL would not affect your SEO stuffs but Google results shows only up to 60 characters only. If you have lengthy URL, users could not read the full URL from search results.

I am not sure that it really matters anymore. It's 2017. It's all about behaviour and tails. Who cares about URLs?

The long tail keywords are much easier to rank for.
People who search by using long tail keywords are far more likely to become buyers!

Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases. To get that first page ranking in Google, you still need to create high-quality content, engage the right people and increase your social signals.
