      Hi Billy,

What if the Web 2.0 is a blog from Tumblr, or a lens from Squidoo, or a hub from HubPages? They can still get to the top spot?

With pure backlinks you may get on top spot for *very* competitive keywords.
If you want to lift your 2.0 property - it would be even easier due to main site's respect in the eyes of Google.

Having said that - if you have a budget to get 5k organic active backlinks - this could lift your virgin 1-page website pretty high.

Backlinks is definitely the key here. There are some pretty good WSO on backlinks by Paul and Angela that you should check out.

@Gleb, When you say *very* competitive terms, is it possible to rank for a keyword with 1mil competing pages in quotes with just a one-page Web 2.0 property?

@NLDesignStudio, I have all the backlinks I probably need, so the links are not an issue here.

Hi SRLee, yes it certainly possible.

As an experiment I ranked my 3.5 month old domain (*my* domain, not even a WEB 2.0 property) with exactly 1 page of content onto first page of Google for $10.49/per click (PPC bid cost) keyword phrase with about 800,000,000 of competition - as reported by Google.
It took me about 10k backlinks to make it happen - but again it's for very competitive expensive corporate market. For smaller markets it might be easier. Looks like backlinks is(are) the king.

        Epic.

Now I'm convinced, and with my huge list of backlinks, I guess I'll start tackling 500,000 competing-page-keywords!

        Thanks Gleb!
