Social Media links won't help you rank in the SERP's. They provide no-follow links.

Just build quality links to your site by guest blogging with proper anchor text in high authority pages. And you will do just fine.

Yes, you can, Social Media may influence your rankings but only indirectly (and this is debatable) by giving more traffic and recognition but you can do well without it. SMO and SEO are pretty separate.

Social Media signals are not really that crucial for ranking (if any crucial at all), those are mostly traffic and buzz sources which can increase your exposure or extend the audience. Solid backlinks from relevant niche sites matter.

It is not easy, but not impossible. If you have a Strong SEO for your website then you can rank. Now a days, On-Page and content optimization is very important factor to get site top in google.
Your website should follow Google update. If you improve your website according to both of these, your chances to get in top will raise.

To get a good page rank, have good quality content, relevant keywords, have related keywords and keep on adding content. Further build high quality backlinks to the specific pages you want to rank.
There are also other factors like how much time the user browsing your page stays on the page.

1)update quality content on specific time basis
