I just wrote a blog post at about 12:30 local time and it was indexed by the time I checked at 1:30. I didn't do any bookmarking, pinging (though Wordpress does) or anything else.

The only thing I did was update my status on Linked In, which pointed to the post. I also use Twitter Tools, so the post was automatically posted to Twitter and my Facebook fan page was also automatically updated to post the blog post on my Facebook page.

Apparently the mix of links back from the Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn will get you indexed quickly!

Just more proof that Wordpress is the most powerful tool for blogging.

Even Google think it's better than Blogger "they can't be wrong.

The 3 sites you mention are obviously going to be searched by Google all day long, good strategy for anybody new.

It doesn't take that long to set a Wordpress Blog up.
It's the tweaking and testing that can take the time.

I often see patterns with the time of day the Googlebot crawls my site, Good idea to post new content just before it crawls.

I have found that even with a domain with one or two backlinks and a low Page Rank, Google is still crawling the domain every day.

Agree with the last post make it easy for Google and create a sitemap, wordpress has plug-in for this which will submit sitemap to Google as well, or simple visit Google Webmasters and upload it.

Just thought I would add my ideas to the conversation. Your techniques are clearly working.

That is one statement I hear a lot but if I may interject my thoughts on it...Google does not particularly love Wordpress. Wordpress does nothing more or less than spit out (i.e. generate) HTML pages using PHP programming code which reads the content of web pages it generates from a MySQL database.

Anybody can spit out HTML pages just like Wordpress does. I am referring to the end result which is shown to Google or to site visitors.

So if Google loves Wordpress it also loves every other HTML page which is likewise presented to it for consumption.

It is not Wordpress that Google loves. Though of course it may seem that way if one's blog (created by Wordpress) is quickly indexed or otherwise ranked. Wordpress just make it easier to create SEO optimized site content (because they do it for you in the PHP code) but again...anybody can get the same loving from Google if they do the same SEO optimizing without Wordpress.

Personally I think Wordpress is a somewhat bloated piece of software that is not always good to use. Especially for simple site pages of the kind that Adsense folks are so fond of.

I can remember years ago when it would take several days for a site or post to be indexed. Now, it usually takes 30 min. at most. Pretty amazing stuff.

I wrote a post about a particular company on one of my blogs. Within an hour after it published, Google had indexed it, sent a Google Alert to the company, and I got a nice thank you email from the company.

I love WordPress (hosted on my server, not WordPress.com). All I do for most posts is use WP's pinging function and a sitemap. Good stuff.

Once your site is estabilished this is pretty standard. My PR0 site with no backlinks indexes my posts in under a minute. You have to remember that with wordpress your RSS feed is pinged as you post including Google's blogsearch.

    Hi blase40,

I'd blame it on Twitter, Google must have an army of bots that constantly crawl every tweet close to real time.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a tool that automatically tweeted your blog post after clicking post in WP?

Then you could link with your fan page etc...

Im new to blogging and right now set up my blog on blogger. I do own a couple domains but they are just re-directed not hosted anywhwere. I would like to learn the basics and how to make a profit before actually paying for a hosting service. Any suggestions on if I should use a free wordpress or a free blogger. Just wondering because I want to learn to earn via the blogging and adsense.

      Hi gvannorman,

If the choice is between blogger.com and Wordpress.com they are both fine to learn on but only Blogger.com allows AdSense ads at this time. The primary skill you need to learn is how to develop targeted traffic, you could use either for learning that.

So, is there any certain threads on here that I should be reading to get insight on targeted traffic. I already know that I need quality content, ping daily and backlinks to get ranked with the search engines. Any other advice would be great.

          Hi gvannorman,

The first thing to learn is basic on-page SEO techniques followed by keyword research. You've got to target keywords with sufficient traffic and learn to outrank everyone below the first page of SERP. Try to apply what you learn immediately so it reinforces the knowledge. Enjoy the journey!
