I've posted a new blog post on my website but it isn't being recognized by Google. I don't know why.

Can it be because it's an article I've written in the past that I've edited over but it's new material? Does that keep Google from picking it up? I'd appreciate some insight.

Have you submitted a sitemap to Google? Shouldn't impact the post's visibility, but doesn't hurt.

I haven't heard of Google not showing a post for that reason, but then again I'm not an expert on Google. Try creating a new post and deleting the existing one if you've just published it.

Other than that, maybe this post will help you out? It's a post on why a website is not showing in Google, but the same rules should apply to posts:

Let me know how it turns out!

Just submit that page's URL to Google and it will be okay..

Just make sure that your robots text and your Webmaster Tools setup doesn't disallow a search engine's robot to visit that page.

Is there a process to submit to Google? I've checked on Google to see if it's indexed. Not sure about how to submit.

The most simple way is linked from my original reply. But in general, is to have a sitemap being submitted to a Webmaster Tools.

try to Create a Sitemap - A sitemap is an XML document on your website's server that basically lists each page on your website. It tells search engines when new pages have been added and how often to check back for changes on specific pages. For example, you might want a search engine to come back and check your homepage daily for new products, news items, and other new content. If your website is built on WordPress, you can install the Google XML Sitemaps plugin and have it automatically create and update your sitemap for you as well as submit it to search engines. You can also use tools such as the XML Sitemaps Generator.

You have to do more than that for google to index your post. Promote the blog post using different promotion means and in no time you will see it in google index.

If that old article is still in Google's index then it won't index the new one yet because that's duplicate internal content
