technical question, when you get a list of keywords from the google keyword planner (adwords), is best to look for exact match keywords for seo purposes(im looking for keywords to rank them in google)? or broad is best?

But in AdWords Keyword Planner all it gives you is estimated search terms that people have typed in..then you chose to target those keywords as broad match or exact or modified broad etc etc. Which is why I am confused by your question.

One thing I can say though is before you look for keywords and go try to rank them in Google, try running an adwords campaign first.... the worst thing you can do is spend all this time targeting kw's just to figure out that they don't convert!

If you want to know exactly what keyword terms people are using in search, Exact Match is what you want. Keep in mind, however, that the tool DOES NOT tell you how competitive search phrases are for organic search. They only tell you how competitive they are for PPC advertising.

There's no perfect keyword tool out there in the market, and neither is there a perfect substitute for Google's phrase and broad match. For a quick estimate, using AdWords traffic estimates is one of the best free methods out there to estimate keyword traffic.

To get really precise about actual keyword traffic, you'll have to invest some money and time in AdWords. To truly assess the categorical value of a keyword, you'll have to really bust out the keyword tools.

Broad match is the default match type and the one that reaches the widest audience. When using broad match, your ad is eligible to appear whenever a user's search query includes any word in your key phrase, in any order. For example, if you use broad match on "luxury car," your ad might be displayed if user types "luxury cars," "fast cars," or "luxury apartments." Google may also match your ad to queries using synonyms - for example, your ad might display when someone searches for "expensive vehicles," which doesn't include any of the terms in your keyword.
Exact match is the most specific and restrictive of the keyword match types. With this match type, users can only see your ad when they type your exact keyword phrase by itself.
