What weighting do you place on the "not enough data" column in the free Google AdWords Keyword Tool software? Do you ignore, or use this data?

I'm talking of long tail 3+ words KW searches.

Thanks

I am a relative newbie at this but personally...based on a lot of discussion on this forum and reading that I have done...I ignore keyword phrases that do not have enough traffic numbers to show any numbers at all in the Google Adwords Keyword tool.

      Hi Ian,

It depends on the purpose of your research. If you are researching keywords to target for organic traffic (SEO) then low search volume keywords should be avoided. However, if you are researching keywords for AdWords targeting then the more the merrier as long as it's a buying keyword basd on a really good root keyword..

Primarily for marketing affiliate products through article marketing, leading to a WP-based presell page

Don...can you give a practical example of what you mean by a root keyword?

Also how can one determine whether a keyword is a buying keyword or not? Is that based on just whether are people are likely to buy something related to the keyword as opposed to just wanting information about the keyword subject?

Incidentally Don...I did a search on Warrior for your posts and started reading through them....you share a lot of golden nuggets worth reading!

          Hi Carlos,

A root keyword is a keyword that has very high search volume and numerous longer phrases that include the same (root) keyword.

          Example root keyword: martial arts

          long tails:
          learn martial arts
          martial arts training
          martial arts movies
          martial arts schools
how to become a martial arts instructor

A buying keyword is usually obvious, but not always. If it has a lot of competition in AdWords and a high minimum bid it's probably a buying keyword. If there are words that are indicative of a purchase like "under $100" or "free shipping" or "overnight delivery" included in the term, then those are very likely buying words.

I'm glad at least one person is getting some benefit from my little gems of knowledge.

          Enjoy!

I will still consider them, because that keywords might still be buying keywords for all you know.

I will use PPC to find out the actual impression and at the same time to find out if it's convertion keyword.

If in the one week of testing there is no impression or sale, then you can forget about the keyword.
