I just read an excellent blog post on why ugly is better when it comes to Adsense site look and feel.

How to Make Money Online for Beginners: Customizing Your Blog Theme To Make More Money Online

I am in no way, shape, or form associated with this blog. I just thought it was a really good post and wanted to share it with you all.

I especially like one guest author's comment that the response of an Adsense valuable visitor to an Adsense site is best likened to the response of a person falling into a sewer. They want us to point the way out as quickly as possible with our Adsense ad links being the way out of course .

  • It's not better. Google rewards quality. So you make an ugly site you can't rank it high so you may get more clicks by default but the payout per click will be lower.

I make tons of money with Adsense... been with it since 2003. I've tested it over dozens of sites and millions of impressions.

Simple and Clean is not the same as "ugly".

More proof that money can be made with Adsense. Goody, goody, yum, yum.

Thanks for pointing that out. I actually did not mean to imply as fully as the blog post might have implied that we need to make our sites downright ugly.

As a web developer there is a no way I could bring myself to make a site as ugly as a sewer to someone who fell into one LOL.

Still...it's good to know that it doesn't have to be this fancy, schmanzie, thing either. I like that.

    Thanks for the pointer.

Griz, the author of the blog, has a reputation for being one of the good guys. He concentrates more on getting the basics right and does not jump on the latest gimmic bandwagon.

What he says is basically backing up John (Xfactor's) idea of keeping the site layout basic.
