Best Way To Confirm Site Is Indexed

Hey Everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying this fine Saturday

I have always used site: http://www.sitename.com to confirm that a site is indexed in Google.

I was shocked to learn a few weeks back, that a four month old site with over 400 high PR backlinks is not even indexed! Is this even possible?

If there is a better way to confirm having been indexed please let me know.

I have sites that have been indexed over night. I have no idea why this site won't show up in google. I am on page one in Bing for my main keyword. That has to mean I have done some things correctly.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I just put the domain name into the Google search box to see if it's indexed. If you sign up to Google Webmaster Tools and add your site you will see if there are any issues with it.

        Hello Lynn,

Thank you very much for your fast reply.

When I first built the site, I put Google Analytics on it and it has been collecting data just fine.

I do get regular traffic, but cannot figure out why the "site: http://www.sitename.com does not seem to yield any results.

        Thank you for your help.

        I do appreciate it.

Try deleting the space after "site:"

It is possible to get de-indexed but contrary to what popular trolls will tell you, it's not that easy to get your site removed unless you are blatently breaking googles TOS or you are generating loads of spam content.

        No problem.

Oh, and I use SEOquake firefox plugin, just activate it once installed, then load the website you want to check, one of the tabs in SEOquake will tell you how many pages are indexed in google, bing, and delicious, along with other information too.

Let me know if you need more info on it

    Hi,

If you mean by "Indexed," Is the site listed on Google no matter where just take a phrase from the page and put quotes "" around it and google it.

For Instance I googled "Best Way To Confirm Site Is Indexed" and came up with this.

"Best Way To Confirm Site Is Indexed" - Google Search

Which shows how fast posts on this forum get Indexed.

      Thank you, George.

I will try this right now. I had not heard of that way of checking before.
