Organic Desktop Position Much Lower?

I've been going through some Search Console data, and have noticed that our website has a much lower average organic position on desktop, compared to mobile and tablet.
It looks something like this:
Desktop avg. position: 22.2
Mobile avg. position: 7.4
Tablet avg. position: 6.3
I'm very keen to get to the bottom of this, and have been spending some time searching for how the website ranks according to different user queries. However, I haven't managed to find anything that points to a definite reason for this much lower average position.
Any suggestions on what could possibly cause this, or where I should be looking?
